It seems many people I know get their phones broken within a few weeks of getting another phone. Just wondering (on average), how long a phone would last in your possession before you'd have to get a new one? Me, I still have my 1st phone, for the last 1˝ years, an LG AX4270.

I rarely ever HAVE to get another phone. I usually change about once per year just because something I like better comes available.

haha thats funny about the broken phone remark... this girl i have classes with has a blackberry pearl on t-mobile that she bought about 1 or maybe 2 month ago and it looks horrible...the circular portion around the pearl is already missing and it has major road rash on the top of it. shes already complaining of dropped calls...i dont have the heart to tell her its her own fault! hopefully she will figure that out.. and learn how to treat a phone. |

The reason I keep my phone a LONG time is because I've programmed it. (NAM settings, with the easy LG program menu). Plus I know everything about it, like the back of my hand, and I really don't ever want to give it up. If I were to get a new phone though, it would have to be the same, or similar model (with the program menu). |

Although I chose "every few months", recently it's been usually each year, but with all of the phones I've purchased since 2002, the average would be "every few months". From 1994 to 2002, I had a total of 4 phones during that time. Since 2002 I've had 30... I probably have about 15 phones still floating around my place. Many are GSM (and unlocked), but there are a few CDMA's (all Verizon). Yes Houston...I have a problem...

also, it is an age/maturity thing sometimes (in my opinion). when mommy and daddy still pay for the phone, people tend to throw them around alot more than when it hits their own pocket. | |

| Wirelessly posted (Quint's Pearl: BlackBerry8130/4.3.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105) If I count all phones since 07/05, then the average is one phone every six months

No average really. Once I got my first phone when I was 11, it worked for couple months, then was forced to switch as it died. Nokia 3410 served me for good two years and I was forced to buy prepaid kit in US. Got 6030 and decided to buy 5300 summer 07 and im still with it. I still use 6030 for roaming with polish prepaid sim card. next phone will be probably in one year or two years, will have symbian and we're good to go |

It's a good thing you put in every few days/weeks into the pole, that way Gamer03 can participate too.

There are many phones and devices out there that I'd like to try and use, SmartPhones, iPhones, EVDO, Bluetooth, etc., you name it. My phone doesn't even have picture/video messaging, it's just a boring "cell phone." I've never moved away from my LG AX4270, and I take great care of it as it were my own pet, LOL Even though I've had it about 1˝ years, it almost looks brand new.... Nevermind that I use it about 8,000 minutes per month! |
