Default A visual map for the 700 spectrum.

For those who are more visual and would like to see where a Verizon and AT&T got 700 spectrum here is a great map via PhoneScoop.

The First pic is att and the second verizon

now whats the difference in the blocks though?

isnt the one verizon have "open"? and what does that necessarily implicate.

is there any stipulations to the use of it? can it be voice and data?

Check out the article at Phonescoop detailing the AWS 1700mhz auction of 2006. This will explain and answer what you're asking.

Then check out the main article regarding the 700mhz auction. It again details what happened.

Thanks Ryan for posting the maps. I originally created a thread in the "Wireless News" forum reposting the Phonescoop report. Unfortunately I "hotlinked" the images, of which were replaced with a "No hotlinking allowed". Joe had to delete the thread. Instead I created another thread http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/wi...n-results.html (A Visual Guide to 700mhz Auction Results) with just a link to the original article.

on Phonescoop.com there is a good link explaining it.

basically verizon got the bigger "upper" C Block, or big mhz chunks.

ATT got almost all of the lower C, both through this auction, and through an agreement with Aloha partners, so that map showing what ATT got, its only going to show what they got out of the A&B blocks and does not count what they got from Aloha Partners, which id assume is much more.

yea im still trying to also.

from what i gather, on that picture above, where it has 2 arrows that say "aloha" the lower mhz one is the one ATT bought straight out before the auction.

and the upper one is the one that was auctioned off that verizon got.

they are of equal significance, but the verizon one has to be "open". which as we have seen, that whole turn has been tip-toed around by a few companys for awhile now, so it will be interesting to see how the FCC plans to enforce "openness"

Actually the map of AT&T's 700mhz spectrum shows both the Aloha purchased spectrum and what they just bought at the auction. It doesn't quite delineate which is which, but they mention in the article that it includes ALL the 700mhz they own, either through purchases and the auction.

Yeah, that's pretty cool that OKC will be the first market entirely on the AWS 1700mhz spectrum, so far.
