This is great news! Most of that area was analog of unusable digital signals when I was there a few months ago.

As of last Tuesdays Alltel conference call, Caliente is waiting for microwave backhaul to the US 50 backhaul system. Once this is completed the site will be functional after the usual 911 & other site turn-up testing by the area tech.

We just recently installed the microwave into the backhaul into Reno. Should be just a bit when the CDMA comes online. week or two.........hopefully.

I was told today by the area tech that the Caliente site is processing CDMA calls.

That must have been quite a job...Caliente to Hwy 50 is over 100 miles!

Is there ubiquitous cell coverage from Caliente to any other cities? i.e., north to Ely, east to Cedar City, south to Las Vegas?

North to Ely is now covered by Mt. Wilson which now has Alltel CDMA.
South to Caliente is CDMA and further south to Alamo is Alltel CDMA.
East to Cedar City - Haven't a clue on that one....sorry.
