Default DIY Repeater

Hi,

I would like to know if there is anything I can do to make my own repeater. I have a V551 - AT&T and Pantech USB Modem - Alltel. I bought a Signal Reach SA200 Dual Band 3 watt amp. The amp works great with either the phone or modem when it is wired direct. Is there anything coupled with say a Wilson Dome antenna that I can buy to make my amp a wireless repeater too? Thanks for the input.

Signal Re: DIY Repeater

Direct connect amplifiers and repeaters have different circuitry . That is why wireless amplifiers/ repeaters are much more expensive. You cannot magically turn a direct connect amplifier into a repeater by adding an indoor antenna.

As I stated above they are totally different pieces of equipment . Not possible to turn one into another. I wish it was as easy as you think it might be.

Exactly, Its like saying you have a boom box, and you want to turn it into an FM transmitter for your pirate radio station. Not gonna happen.

It could be done but the money and time involved with be more than spending the extra money to buy the wireless unit.

Cellular isnt 2 way radio were you can piggy back 2 mobile radios together to make a makeshift repeater like some have done. There is over 40 channels both transmit and recieves so thats over 80 combinations right there plus frequency hopping AMR half Rate codecs and Walsh codes, to much to account for to make your own reapeater. Plus the manufactured repeaters are smart repeaters and limit their interference with the network.
