Alltel's analog is now finally gone here in Upstate SC.
I was getting an analog signal earlier yesterday from Alltel, just about 10 hours ago from this post.
Alltel said the deadline was March 31, so I guess they gave everyone about an extra 2 weeks.

I just put my phone on analog only,
and I only found a very low analog signal that still exists (US Cellular - SID 246 - AMPS B),
in Western NC from a tower about 20 miles away to my NNW,
A call was barely able to go through on analog USCC, it drops 5 seconds after connecting.
I have to go outside to find this low USCC analog signal. (It's really useless to me in my location).
I wasn't able to get USCC's analog when Alltel's analog was up (same band - Cellular B).
Not sure when USCC's analog will go down, but for now, thats the only analog left near me.

Jerro explained the situation good earlier:

Tallahassee is now analog free As well...SID 544's analog was up yesterday afternoon, but now Alltel has finally pulled their analog here as well.

Default Re: Is your local Analog cellular network turned off yet?

I guess Alltel disabled roaming on USCC's analog
I just tried to place a call (in a place where I was able to get better signal so I could hear the connection)
and all I heard was:

"Message AS-24, Welcome to US Cellular, the subscriber you have called does not answer,
please try again later, Message AS-24"

This was not the case on March 1st, when I roamed on USCC's analog (SID 246) in Asheville with no problem,
and on March 9 atop Crowders Mountain in Gastonia, NC from a tower 60 miles away near Wilkesboro, NC (SID 309).

I still have Alltel's PRL 20029 on my NAM 2, and 20031 on my NAM 1
neither NAM was able to make a successful connection past this error message.

With Alltel, phase 1 of the sunset is done, no more Alltel analog signal left in
Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, and Virginia.

Next is phase 2, and it is scheduled to be completed by June,
(maybe they'll be pushed back a few weeks as well, who knows)
and it will affect:
Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wisconsin.

Don't count on it of course ,

In the meantime, if you want Analog, take advantage of Alltel in the Western States,
they should be on until the end of the summer hopefully.

In wisconson, B-side analog on both AT&T and Alltel in the southern half of the state is off. USCC still has it on on the A-side.

Yup US Cellular's analog is still on in the Carolinas, I wonder why, and how long it will stay...
SIDs 246, 309, 1541 & 1643 still broadcasting analog.

Also I think Ramcell (SID 1518) in Western NC still has analog.

In Vermont I'm still getting Analog on SID 313. Unicel AMPS I believe. I have no idea when they plan to shut it down, but for now Analog is still alive. I have an older LG that I tested with.
