I noticed 1 company that was dba Verizon, Does anyone else know if some of the other companies listed are working for T-Mobile, Cingular or Sprint? Or are these all local/regional providers listed?

this article might help: Similar to the FCC's ill-fated Auction 35 in early 2001, many of the designated entities set to participate in Auction 58 are affiliated with more established wireless players, Edge Mobile L.L.C./Cingular Wireless L.L.C.; Vista PCS L.L.C./Verizon Wireless; Wirefree Partners III L.L.C./Sprint Corp.; Cook Inlet/T-Mobile USA Inc. Leap Wireless International Inc. through Alaska Native Broadband L.L.C., U.S. Cellular Corp. through Carroll Wireless LP, MetroPCS Inc. through Royal Street Communications L.L.C. Verizon Wireless and Leap are also participating in the auction of non-DE licenses, along with Centennial Communications Corp., Triton PCS Inc. and Midwest Wireless |

That's just in some markets. The big ones will bid for themselves in other markets.

Regulators wouldn't like the giants to bid directly, especially Verizon and Cingular.

Just wanted to know how you know when someone has won a license? When there is a high bidder and nobdy bids in that round for that license. Or is it only when no bids in a round for all licenses and only when the auction closes can you tell who won the licenses. |

LA, Houston Hot in Auction 58 Today, 4:16 PM source: RCR News After six rounds of bidding on the first day of Auction 58, the biggest spender is shaping up to be Metro PCS, which has offered up over $450 million so far though bidding partner Royal Street Communications. Most of that went to a single $375 million bid for spectrum covering Los Angeles. Metro PCS's other bid is a $71 million play for spectrum in Houston. T-Mobile's partner, Cook Inlet, has put in a bid for $86 million for another license that also covers Houston.
