Default "iPhone" - Apple stole that name... - Lawsuit!

So is this where Apple came up with the 'iPhone' branding name?

If so, then they are infringing on a copy right or trademark at the least.

Look here - these people have rights to the 'iPhone' name.

Just try this quick exercise:

Go to Google and type "gerber".

You probably already know that Gerber is the baby food maker, but I bet you didn't know there were other companies using the same name, like Gerber Plumbing Fixtures LLC, and The Gerber Store, which sells outdoor hunting and fishing knives and tools. There's also Gerber Scientific Products, which is sign making equipment. They've all been living happily ever-after with the same name and no one has complained.

The point is, multiple companies can use the same name as long as they are not stepping into each other's markets by selling the same type of product or competing with one another.

Cisco and Apple are making two different phones (same type of product) with the same name (iPhone), but Cisco has had the Iphone name for years before Apple, and so Cisco sued Apple, but in the end they came to an agreement. However, this company "iphone", that you are talking about, is the name of a VoIP provider. They are not selling a phone called the "iphone" and so I don't think there will be a problem here.

By the way, please post in the right forum. This isn't a news article, so I am moving it to the general forum.
