Question Stealth Tree Durability

How well do the fake trees hold up to the elements? I work for a city in the Seattle Metro Area and an applicant for a cell tower said the fake trees won't last in our climate. We were told the needles would fall out or turn an ugly color after a few years, thus making it stand out even more. Any truth to this?

Thanks.

It's possible due to the high humidity for your area, however, I don't see how it would be a problem. To the best of my knowledge, the fake trees are made out of plastic components, with maybe some molded foam, in other words, semi to non biodegradeable components with paints and so forth. Either way, I'm sure if it is the case the companies that designed the fake trees would have taken that into account and would be offering alternatives for the different climates.

I know the few fake tree towers around here still look the same as they did when they put them up, heck 1 is around 10+ years old and still looks the same.

With the technology today, the chances of this are even slimmer.

What you may want to do is PM Johnathan Kramer from here, you can check out his posts in the "Cell tower hunting club" board.

Here is 1 of his threads: http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/ce...r-indiana.html

He hasn't been posting much lately, but may be able to answer this question or direct you to someone.

It's funny this is being brought up because this very question was also brought up at the planning commission meeting that I recently attended in which Sprint and Metro PCS both had applications. Metro PCS's rep stated that they had to place their monopine in a certain location on Southern California Edison (our local power company) property because they were concerned about the possibility of branches falling off on to their power lines. Their rep actually admitted that he has seen that happen from time to time on certain monopalms/pines. Needless to say the planning commission members were concerned after hearing that.

We have many here in Pa. And I have not seen any removed and some are quite old. And Phila. Pa weather is no picnic.

That's different, I have never heard or even thought they would fall off. I know the ones I have seen, have the same ugly fake branches on them.
Guess it must be other reason's besides wind, rain or snow & humidity may play a part in it.
