MY RAZR V3M not properly working with Motorola Phone Tools

Hope someone can help me out here. I have a new SPRINT Razr v3m. I bought a data trnsfr cable w/ MPT 4.0, primarily because I want to transfer pictures from my phone to the pc because I'm too cheap to pay $20.00 a month for PCS VISION. I finally got the OS (xp2 pro) to recognize it in the Device Manager as MOTOROLA USB MODEM; it also added a STANDARD MODEM. However, I'm unable to query the motorola usb modem...it says PORT IN USE (com 3). The device manager also shows MOTOROLA USB DIAG (com 6) under PORTS (see attached .jpg). The MPT opens (shows a phone gui), but everything is grayed out. It indicates it is "INITIALIZING, PLEASE WAIT" but then says MOBILE NOT CONNECTED, which it is of course. I tried the Phone Tools 4.21a utility, but when checking ABOUT MOTOROLA PHONE TOOLS in the help menu, it indicates it is ver. 4.0.3b. Can anyone help me out with this? I surely would appreciate it. thank you.

try updating the software once more.....version 4.3something...or until it says up to date....I was having issues also with my V3m until I did that...now al seems to be ok for now.....

I know, after almost 14 hrs of trying to get the GUI phone so I can update, I finally found a thread that described how you can update without having the phone (it Motorola Phone Tools root directory). After I finally got it up to 4.36, it worked. Man was I happy. I'm just wondering, my kid has a Sanyo 8100, do you think MPT will work with that? The software that it's transfer cable came with identifies the phone, but it the .exe program doesn't detect it. It's a real basic program (doesn't even have a damn name...PST.exe is the execute file). Anyway, if you know of a program that works with the Sanyo's I'd a appreciate a shout out.
