| http://www.emxbiochip.com/docs/radiation-intro.html Found an interesting article that summarizes the health effects of cell phone radiation. Of course, it is worth stating the cell phone RF signals haven't been conclusively shown to cause cancer or cause anything terribly bad in humans. What I did find interesting was the quote in the article that GSM has been shown in some studies to produce the 'greatest biological effects.' I think I also read elsewhere that GSM phones emit more radiation and use a larger bandwidth to communicate with the tower. I was considering getting a T-Mobile phone to test some of the CDMA vs. GSM differences, but now that I've looked into it a little more, isn't CDMA safer than GSM considering we don't know the long-term effects of RF exposure? |

Since GSM is a TDMA air interface, it sends out bursts of data. CDMA operates very differently and sends out more of a constant data stream. GSM causes more interference, but this does not mean that the radiation intensity is much different. SAR tests indicate that some phone models have low SAR and others have high SAR, however there is a selection of both GSM and CDMA technologies in both the high and low SAR categories. I agree with Jay - I use my BT headset. It produces some radiation, but the level is very low. |
