I think they could put a dent in Samsung & LG's sales, but not effect Motorola & Nokia as much.

Pantech's making a splash entry into Cingular and Alltel; however, its entry into VZW has been hush-hush. They have a couple of unbranded handsets (PN 210, PN215) and rebranded Nokias (6305, 6215, 6315) for Verizon. Maybe marketing phones to VZW is a huge expense and they didnt want to brand their own handsets.

I saw the Pantech bar phone for Cingy and I have to agree that it's a nice looking phone and its affordable to boot ($90 for prepaid) In contrast, the PN218 that's out for Alltel looks ugly to me and it reminds me of the CDM180 on VZW(also ugly).

I am starting to see more & more phones that are branded as the carriers vs the manufacture & Vodafone just made a big deal with some companies to make more carrier branded phones.

I am not sure I like this idea, and am sure there is a bigger reason they are doing this.

"The Hummer Phone," hilarious. The Pantech PN-218 is the worst handset I have ever used. Ever. EVER.
