Im trying to use a Ethernet Cord and a D-link Wireless router to communicate my PSP and PC together, because i use a Sprint broadband I-Net card so i dont use cable internet. But i own a wireless router.. Is it possible to set up my wireless router for my PC to act as a server and communicate with my psp ? since really only thing being transfered is signal anyways... Thanks for any help\ P.S. Sorry if this wasnt ment to be posted here |

I don't know much about the PSP, but I am assuming that it is Internet-ready (i.e. it has wired or wireless Ethernet capability). Even so, given that you have a router, using your PC as a server is not the best way to go. Please check out this thread, where I have set out the basic principles. Edit: In that thread, the poster had a DSL connection (a cable connection is equivalent). If your only Internet connection is the Sprint Broadband card, your job is more difficult. Your connection is only configured for one device (your PC) and there is no easy way of getting the router to stand-in for that device. I believe that if you have a desktop computer with a free PCI slot, you can install a second Ethernet card and run software on your computer to allow your PSP to connect to the Internet. Essentially, you would be turning your computer into a router, replicating what the D-Link router already does. People hardly ever do this any more, now that devices like the D-Link are so cheap. Bottom line: If it's feasible, your best option is to get a DSL or cable connection to feed into your router. Involves a monthly charge, but so does your Sprint broadband service. . Who, it can be done. Ive done it with a cingular air card and a linksys router. All you have to do is set the sprint card to share the internet connection. Then plug the ethernet cable from your computer into the internet port of your router. I believe you have to do some more configuring in you router (port forwarding) to connect your psp. Ringer, |

I'd be happy to learn that this is easier than I think, but I have a few questions. It's not clear to me that Ethernet traffic from the Sprint card is automatically available on the computer's Ethernet port. Does setting the Sprint card to "share" do this? The Sprint card presumably provides 1 IP address to the computer. How does the router get its IP address? Many ISPs limit subscribers to 1 IP address, unless they pay for multiple addresses (I know that Comcast and Earthlink do this). Is the IP address of the router available to the outside? Thanks. | |

yes selecting share internet connection lets the ethernet acess the sprint card. you will be sharing the band width of the sprint card with the router, same ip address. Configure the the ethernet connection tcp/ip as ip add 192.168.1.20 sub mask 255.255.255.0 def gateway 192.168.1.2 configure the router ip add 192.168.1.3 sub mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.2 Im doing this from memory since im not at home to verfy these settings. I found this info in howardforums.com Basicly your configuring the router and computer ethernet port a pass thru to your sprint card. I have a linksys router wrt54gs whose default ip address is 192.168.1.1 remember you have to be pluged into on of the ethernet ports on the router to configure it and then plug into the internet port to use it. I had my cingular card installed in my desk top and shared the connection with 2 laptops and it worked fine. High speed internet just became available to me and i switched to that. hope this helps Ringer, |

Click on start/connect to/show all conns/ right click your sprint card/properties/advanced check the internet connection sharing box in the pull down tab "home network connect" select you local area connection under "settings" on that same page check dhcp ftp and http. As far as the dailing thing I dont know whats up with that. Go into more detail about the spint card. Is it wired or wireless? The setting I gave you works on my sierra aircard which is just a cellular modem. I was assuming that your sprint card is also. Here are some other resourse you can try for yor Spint card planetmotox.net howardfourms.com cellphoneforums.net Ringer |

Who, is this the equipment you have? http://www.sprintbroadband.com/equipment.html If it is this changes things. If this is your configuration all you need is a router/Access Point after sprints modem. I have almost that identical setup now. ............................Wireles Sprint modem>-------Router>---PC . ...........................Router>-- PSP If you have a friend who has a router borrow it and try it try just useing DHCP first. if that dont work PM me Ringer, |

who, please be more specific. What type of computer laptop, desktop, what dlink model. the more info you provide the more someone out there may have allready been thru this. Have you tried calling Sprint tech support. If the card is manufactured by sierra they have great tech support. I had a problem once and the guy spent an hour on the phone with me to solve the problem. Remember search is your friend. is this your card http://www.sprint.com/pcsbusiness/de...sierra550.html look around on that site and see if you find your pcs card. Ringer, |

To set this up right you need another laptop to test and get the internet connection working first then move on to the psp. The psp is a whole diff issue. You have to set up port forwarding in the router. You need someone else to help you with that, I have on experience with it Check dlink site for tech support on that or give em a call. Good luck, Ringer |

plug into the wan. You should still have the sprint card set for internet connection sharing. I think since your sprint card shows up as a modem and not a network card the default setting for local area connection and network and dlink should work.

ok so this is what im getting, plug cord from MY laptop into WAN , but in order to configure the settings for it, it needs to be pluged into LAN. The sprint card sharing is ON but the Local Network isnt ENABLED so should i ENABLE both wireless and LocalNetwork with the default settings they have?.. or should we go and edit them.. also in my PM i sent you told you , would it be easyer to contact me over a instant messenger or something, sheet ill call you if i have to get this done lol.... i |
