Need a record of texts received

Hello, all! I am trying to help out an employee of mine and could use some advice. Her provider is Alltell and this is the situation: She needs to get a detailed record (date, time, number from) of text messages received over the past few months. She doesn't necessarily need transcripts of the messages themselves, just a record that certain ones existed. She has been being harassed by a person who is now in jail for violating a restraining order and the police could use this information to show a pattern of stalking, etc. Is it even possible to get this information from Alltell? I was on hold with their customer service FOREVER and thought I'd get a quicker answer here. Thanks for your help!

If the police are involved and/or there is litigation as you mentioned then either the lawyer representing your friend in a civil case or the police can ask a judge for a subpoena for the records. Since you have no legal standing in the case I doubt that the phone company will talk to you about it at all.

Thanks for the quick attention. I know the phone company won't actually give me any specific information, I was just trying to find out if it's at all possible to pull up the records (if specifics exist). That way, I know what direction to send her in. It would be nice for her to be able to accomplish something without having to wait for the red tape of subpoenas, etc.

Unfortunatly, a Suponea is the only way she can get the records. In a way it's a personal safety/security setup so that not just anyone can get access to these records, even if you are the account holder.

Went through this with our provider, too. My daughter was getting harrassing phone calls/text message/emails.

Will have to get a lawyer to get it taken care of.

I also can see the date & Number, but not the actual message and assumed that's what the OP is looking for the message content.

If you want just the date/time & Number & have Cingular you can get this on you online account. I am sure the other carriers have this ability too.

But if you need message content, then you need the legal system.
