Does anyone know why a wireless router has to be rebooted to regain internet connectivity? In other words. Even though I had a connection to the router. I no internet connection from my wireless computer. I had connection to the internet form my desk top, so I know the router was working, and I had connectivity to the wireless network from the laptop, but could not access the internet until the router was rebooted. Any answers? Regards, Kashka |

Sometimes routers are a little slow in regaining a public IP address. You either have to reboot them, or go into the service menus and tell it to reassign an IP

Routers are simple computers. They run on software, just like other computers. Software in an operating computer/router/whatever is stored in memory. A tiny stray electrical charge can easily effect memory by turning on (or off) a couple transistors. Re-booting a computer/router/whatever reloads the software and it is back to its original state. |
