Default New phone, not service?

My contract is up (for years now) and I want the new moto v400 (cingular). I tried to get one from A1 and was willing to sign the 2 yr. contract and they wouldn't let me because I have an existing account? Letstalk has a good deal also, but I don't think that I will be able to keep my same number? The cingular store is an option but they are really expensive there. I am confused as to what my options are if I want a new phone after all these years?
I looked at ebay and am wondering if the sim card in my old nokia will work in a v400?

Thank you
Kathy

The SIM card should work.

Have you tried a Cingular store? They should let you upgrade your with your existing account.

The V400 will work with your exsisting SIM, especially since most if not all are unlocked.

Yes, I went to the store and the v400 is really expensive there. that is why I was trying to buy online with all the rebate offers going on. But they are all telling me that it would be a new service with a new number etc. I guess that is why it is so cheap! I have found out that I can upgrade on the cingular site, which has a good deal on the v400, but the site is not working right now for upgrades!
