Found a verizon phone

if you found a verizon phone someone lost and you wanted to use it as your phone now that the service is canceled would that work or would they know because of the esn? thanks

"found" huh? If you know it belongs to someone else, why not turn it in? They will obviously know who the owner is and can return it to them.

And yes, they can tell a stolen phone by ESN if it was reported stolen.

I found the post odd as well. Even it is true that natas823 did find a lost phone, why would that person not even suggest an attempt at finding the owner. Verizon could quite easily talk them through finding the phone# assigned to that phone and from there Verizon could find the owner. Perhaps the inquiry about the ESN shows the true motive of the post.
