I need advise. I use INTERNATIONAL text messaging almost in daily basis. Right now I'm using T-mobile / Nokia phone to do so and as of now, I just have to input the phone number of the receiving member, and the message is on it's way. Few weeks ago I signed in with Verizon, and they clamed that #1) International text messaging is NOT possible (which we know that's not true), and that #2) in order to send international text message, I have to find out what is their cell phone e-mail address and send to that address instead of directly to the cell phone number. I found this very backward and so last century that I had to quit with Verizon after 5 days. My fellow men, have you had similar problems w/ Verizon regarding international text messaging, and in case any of the tech support guys from Verizon is reading this, maybe you can tell me when I'll be able to send a international text message without calling them first and asking what is their cell phone e-mail? |

I could text my ex-gf in Canada... I guess that'd be considered text messaging.

So you're saying that you were using Verizon and just able to type her phone number w/o lengthy e-mail address, and that's it? Did you both had the same carrier by any change?

Well, one of your fellow women wants to chime in. Canada is different from texting Europe. They're more US-centric. Most wireless carriers in the States use incompatable ways of sending texts so you have to do the email thing. However, GSM phones all seem to communicate with each other fine. It's those pesky TDMA/CDMA carriers that want to build Berlin-style walls around their networks . |
