Here is the deal...

This is printed in Sprint's terms and conditions for Vision services - Vision Service which is assigned to a phone is limited to internet and email access through that phone. It is not intended to provide modem service to a computer or laptop. You can physically connect the cable and get it to work, but Sprint claims they will be monitoring usage. If they determine that your Vision usage is excessive (this is defined as bandwidth usage that is greater than a phone could use) then they will ask you to switch to a Data plan ($99/month for unlimited use or cheaper plans with data limits). I believe that it is not difficult for them to see when the data usage exceeds a phone's data capability - if they are looking for it

Now the reality is - Does Sprint really have the manpower or reporting in place to monitor their customer's usage patterns? Perhaps. But with 2000+ layoffs at headquarters it is unlikely that this is a top priority right now. I would imagine that until it becomes a network problem, they won't even look at it. But if they get reports in areas that people cannot access Vision because the data network is overloaded with usage, then they may look into customer accounts in that area and try to pinpoint a cause.

So, in summary, I would say that for those people that do have connection capability - use it at your own risk and use it carefully so you don't stick out like a sore thumb!
