Default UK Roaming to the US

Hi,

I'm based in the UK and use GSM to transmit data from handheld PCs over the internet. We currently only transmit from one location in the USA (Sanford Airport, Florida) and are experiencing problems due to poor signal quality.

There is a general feeling in my company that Vodaphone performs better than Orange in Florida (better coverage/signal quality). However, since both operators have the same roaming partners (AT+T and T-Mobile) I assume that there should be no difference in performance.

Is it this straighforward? or does anyone know of any other variables which I am not considering.

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions,

Arran

If I am not mistaken (and I remember the location of Florida cities ), I think that Sanford is outside of Orlando, so you might be experiencing a lower signal due to Hurricane Jeanne that hit Florida yesterday (Sunday, September 26).

That is my guess....hopefully someone else might be able to help you with your problem.

Welcome to WA Arran.

Welcome to WA,
if you are roaming, any carrier that has a roaming agreement with those U.S. carriers will perform the same...Getting a different carrier in the U.K. will not help, since your phone will still roam on the networks of the same U.S. carriers.
