Default Forwarding calls to cell

Hi,

I need to keep my cell # private to certain parties and at the same time enable them to reach me on my cell.

Is there a service that gives you a phone number and forwards all calls made to this number to another phone, in this case a cell phone?

Any ideas appreciated.

TIA,

Jess

Default Forwarding calls to cell

Here's something I've used in the past. In NC, we have BellSouth telephone service. With this service I can get BellSouth's voice mail. One of the features of this voice mail is that the caller can press the 5 key to have the call transferred to your mobile without the caller knowing what the mobile number is. Of course this depends on whether your local phone service offers this feature.

If you are using your home phone, you local phone service may offer a "no answer transfer" option. This could also transfer the call to your mobile.

Good luck,

Default Forwarding calls to cell

Hi Scott,

That's a very interesting feature that I will look into in the future. Regrettably, I can't use this since more than one person use our home phone number. If I lived alone or had a personal home phone number, your suggestion would work great!

Thanks gain,

Jess

Default Forwarding calls to cell

Some local phone companies will allow you to get what's called a Central office only number and forward that to a different number. Generally these are used primarly for businesses in nearby cities to have local numbers. Usually the cost is about $15 per month, but could go as high as $45-50 in some areas. If you do this, you would now probably have the ability to have a toll-free number associated with your CO forward number...which if forwarded to your wireless would now give you a toll free number on the go...

WirelessBeachBum - This sounds a bit better since it uses an 800# that forwards the calls to the cell phone. The price is a bit high though. I also wonder if you can get unlimited amount of calls this way for the monthly fee.... I'll have to find out. Thanks!

Default Forwarding calls to cell

Need local number? Get remote call forwarding from your local telco - here in Atlanta, it's around $18/mo, with no usage charges if forwarded-to number is local, and you can use the LD carrier of your choice if forwarded-to number is LD. To change forwarded-to number you have to place a service order w/ telco and pay for it.

Need toll-free number? Any carrier can point a toll-free at a cell phone, but some won't or will give you grief in trying to do so, either because of plans that only include "regional Bell customers" (many smaller resellers e.g. Capsule/Covista) or because of "security reasons" (AT&T LD). IMO, the best option for pointing a toll-free at a cell phone is Kall 8 (www.kall8.com), who charges 6.9c/min (6-sec billing after first minute) and $2/mo for 888/877/866 numbers (true 800s are $5/mo) -- and you can change the forwarded-to number online at any time at no charge. Another option to consider is OneCall offered by PlanetOne Communications. They provide a personal toll free number that will forward to any number you request. If you want for information, their website is www.getonecall.com. Hope this helps.

Default Forwarding calls to cell

Hi PhonePerson,

I didn't know about GetOneCall.com. Although it seems to offer more features than Kall8.com, I think Kall8 is much more affordable.

GetOneCall's Basic Service (chearper) charges $12.95/mo and 14.9 cents/minute

Kall8's charges $2/mo and 6.9 cents/minute for the 888/877/866 Standard Numbers.

I have bookmarked it too anyway. Thank you!

Jess
