hi all..

I'm new and I have a question. I also posted a question in the Nokia section...so if you can check that out it would be great.

What's the feel on an internal antenna vs a external antenna.

I live in a somewhat rural area and I recently got a 6360 from Nokia with ATT. The other day I got really crummy reception and a verizon tower picked me up and said I had to use a credit card to pay for the call. I had Verizon before...so I'm wondering if I should exercise my 15 cancel service policy. or did this have something to do with antenna not being strong enough to pick up anything...???

Any help would be great.

If you are in digital mode, antenna length does not matter very much. (I have no antenna experience on AMPS.) If you are in rural areas, maybe you should use Verizon.

A longer antenna doesn't mean better. Antennas need to be the correct length for the wavelength. The only problem with internal antennas is if one puts their finger toward the top of the phone to press the earpiece into the ear. That means you are touching the antenna and blocking some of its transmission.

You need to make sure you are not touching the antenna (behind the earpiece) in phones that have an internal one.

That's weird you got a credit card intercept on Verizon with your AT&T phone, I have used AT&T with my Verizon phone several times with no problems. Where are you? You might want to call AT&T and see what's going on.

AT&T roams on VZW just fine in various parts of GA, TN, NC, etc. (and if they didn't I wouldn't be with AT&T, just like I don't use Cingular becaue they don't roam on VZW in places that matter.) The only time AT&T shouldn't roam on VZW is in markets where both AT&T and VZW are 800 MHz such as L.A.

That shouldn't make a difference either, should it? I can roam on US Cellular here in Lake and Mendocino Counties and use them just fine, even though they are both serving the area, and both on 800. I do have a prefix from Sonoma County(our southern neighbor)on all 3 lines though, local Lake and Medocino County Prefixes get the American Roaming Network intercept when trying to use US Cellular.
