I asked Sprint about this and they its "unlimited" with the connectivity card to a Sanyo 4900 or other Vision phones.........But in a brochure it says you pay by the MB (IE 40.00 for 20MB of net usage)....

I know I connected an older Sprint phone onto AOL with the unlimited N/W thing and theres no extra charge exc. the 5.00 per month and if its used N/W time peroid......

But what about connecting a laptop with a connectivity kit to a Sprint Vision phone and going online and its charges?

We asked this question of a sprint rep.

Basically, they will cut your service if it's "excessive", but they can't tell if you're doing phone internet or computer internet. Same thing to their system.

The thing is, they are not selling the computer connection cables for phones anymore, so shortly you will have to get a datacard to get a computer to work if you don't have a 3G phone and cable already. Then they can check the ESN and gaurantee that you're using the correct services.

Sprint still sells the connection kit for Sanyo 4900 (it's a USB cable) but it's currently on back order. They are also available at http://www.supplynet.com. The software is downloadable from the Sprint website.

Does anyone know how fast or should I say slow the conection is?

I thinking of doing this my self but I heard I would connect At 9.6 or less. Also how or why would sprint discontinue your service for ussing it for this. I guess this would be a good way to cancel the contract with out having to pay the cancelation fee. Ha Ha

You can use it for this, they dont care.. you WILL get cancelled for abusing it, ie. using it for a web server, to serve files or do anything that will cause an continuos drain on the system, much the same as most cable ro DSL providers have set in their rules.. I have a data cable, and connect typicall between 70-165KB/s.. which is A LOT faster than my dial up here, I live in a rural area and at most connect at 24.4 using my dial up acct... its free, just dont abuse it

Thanks for the apparent clarification. It appears to me that reps (ie sales people) tell you that you can do it and it will be great. But if you scan the TOS, it is NOT so clear. When you confront the reps with the TOS question, they become more vague in their statements. Your explanation makes the most sense. They also suggest that if you use the phone to dial an ISP - allegedly sprint will just use against your minutes and can't tell ( sounds suspicious)

BEWARE THE SALES PEOPLE!! ...get it in writing!! ROFLOL

When i got my A500 and the cable I had the same question. So I called Sprint and the Rep said it was unlimited because all of their plans are "UNLIMITED VISION". Also he said when Vision first came out it was 10 buck extra for like 2Megs but now its 10extra on all Vision plans and they are automatically. Thats why the same minute plans are 10 bucks cheaper with a 2G phone and not with a 3G phone. Works pretty fast for me and is great for traveling. I got my OEM cable for 17 bucks on 1800mobiles. Previously I had a 2G Samsung 8500 with the cable and got 14.4 which was only good for Instant Messaging and Email. Another thing the REP told me was if I ever incur any charges for Vision on my phone sprint would credit it as he put a note on my account. Also im thinking of getting a Sanyo 4900 for my mom, would anyone recommend it. Im not spending big bucks like I did on my A500, LOL.

LOL. Reaching about 250 subscribers sounds just about right to me! Verizon Wireless is the largest digital network!

I've posted this in other threads but it applicable here also, I received this email today:

Effective today, the PCS Retail stores are removing all PCS Connection Kits from their inventory.
The Business channels and Telesales have already pulled all inventory. Dotcom is in the process of pulling all verbiage from sprintpcs.com, including all offers in relation to the kits. This is being done to prevent fraudulent use of the Unlimited Vision option with PCS Connection Kits. This is a short term solution to alleviate the risk while the Unlimited Vision option is offered, and other solutions are being proposed for the future.

For any Kits bought prior to 11/25 or those purchased now through other third party vendors, PCS will be monitoring these customers for abnormally high Vision usage. If detected, customers using this form of connectivity will be asked to migrate to a data-only plan, like the $99.99 unlimited Vision plan.

For more information on this, the Terms and Conditions in our Service Plan guide state that the "Unlimited PCS Vision offer for PCS Free & Clear Plans with

Vision is: (a) only available with a Vision-capable PCS Phone or PCS smart phone device; and (b) not available with PCS Connection Cards, or any other device used in connection with a computer or PDA - including phones, smart phones or other devices used with connection kits or similar phone-to-computer/PDA accessories. Sprint reserves the right to deny or to terminate service without notice for misuse."

For customers who want to use data, we should continue to offer the PCS Connection Card(s) with the promotional $99.99/Unlimited Data plan. Also, a reminder that the $10 for Unlimited Vision is available for a limited time and should continue to be sold with handsets and smart devices.

Basically, use the Vision anytime you want (even with the data cable). If you use tons of data, 1000mb or something, be prepared for sprint to call you and ask you nicely to switch over to their unlimited data plan.

Basically all I want is fr someone to tell me what they consider excessive... and, I got my cable at a Sprint store, and have been told by the people there, as well as tech support all the way up to a level 2 vision tech that I could use it when connected to my computer as MUCH as I wanted because that is part of the vision service, I don't care if they have changed their minds in the last few weeks.. this is what I bought, this is what I was told over and over again... and, as far as your terms of service posting... I printed mine when I signed up for the unlimited vision plan, and NOTHING about it is in there at all... that has all been added to, or changed recently. nowhere did I agree to let them cancel mine for excessive use, nor did I agree that unlimited use was not to be with a connection cable.. don't get me wrong, I won't abuse it, and I doubt I will use that much data... but still, it's the thought of it that gets me going.......
