is the browser different in this such that you get more, and better looking sites than on a cell phone (WAP)? oh, and does using AIM over this network still constitue your 2 way text messages? or is it part of the "unlimited data"? can you d/l stuff too? thx |

I believe AIM counts towards text messages. I haven't used it so I'm not sure how it compares to a cell display. Probably bigger at a minimum.

If you use the AIM on the Wireless Web, then i probably goes with your Unlimited Data.

All you do is just sign-on to the T-Zones, and on the opening page you should see AOL. Go into that.

how do i log on to t-zones?, there are no addon plans you can get with the sidekick (unlike all the other phones), so i cant go to t-zones from a main menu of my sidekick phone or anything..............unless you can somehow log on to tzones from a website? i was hoping to find an AIM that worked like the tzone (not java, but browser) |

I thought unlimited messaging/AIM was one of the main features of the Sidekick data plan. P |

You have to just log on to the internet however you do it with the side kick. It's free on the Sidekick plan, it's unlimited. Once you log on to the internet, there will be an option on the main menu. Its simple.

i know, i was on the assumption too (free AIM and email) because on their add it says "unlimited internet browsing, AIM, email" but i think the "unlimited" is just for the browsing because i called 5 different reps about the issue and they all said AIM, is seperate from your internet as is email, so you do infact use up your batch of 1000 text messaging. see, its like this........on your main screen on the sidekick, you get numerous options----- web browser, phone, calendar, AIM, games, etc. now, the tzone didnt take up text messaging but rather bandwith because you basically logged on the browser then in the browser's menu you had the AIM option. now with the sidekick, you have to use aim on the main menu, and on their you arent connected to the wireless web. if you do connect to the wireless web by clicking on the "web browser" option, you dont get another list of options like you do on T-zones......rather, you just get tooken to the tmobile main page like a regular web browser. so to sum it up, AIM and webbrowser (the wireless web) are two different things on the sidekick, UNLIKE the tzone where it has an option for aim WITHIN the browser (so it takes up data instead of text messages on the tzone and vice versa on sidekick ) which is also another reason they probly give you 1000 text messages , more than any other plan.............. now my idea is that when java is enabled on web browsing (which a customer rep will happen soon), i can use "AIM express" on the aim website to access AIM through my browser using java in which case it would technically be data instead of text messages. |

Oh ok. I see now. I forgot the Sidekick had that big screen. I guess they wouldn't just give you options of text when you have the large screen available for graphics, silly me, ha ha.

On the sidekick, you have unlimited data. The Web Browser (for the uninformed, this is -not- WAP, its the real full web, except without java support) the AIM client, the email, the camera, the address book, pretty much everything on the phone works over the unlimited data. The things that dont are as follows: PHONE: you are using phone minutes now (duh) PHONE MESSAGES: -this- and NOT aim, is what your 1000 mobile messages come out of. Feel free to use aim all you want, and dont wait on the aim express, its pointless when you have a built in client like the sidekick does. |

oh, i was told by ONE rep that aim and crap works over unlimited data then i was told by 4 more it DOESNT and i will be charged text messages im going to call right now to see how many text messages ive used, if its lower than around 990, i guess i am being charged for AIM and email. ill post what the verdict is edit- i just called and they said i had 1000 messages left, so then i said "GREAT! see, i was just testing if AIM on my sidekick plan still used text messages........" then the customer rep was like "no no no, they still DO use text messages, i dont know why it says you have 1000.....call back again later or tomorrow to maybe have a more updated number" so im still pretty confused, but im more confident that i do infact get unlimited AIM, guess ill call again later on |
