Can I DL w/o a Vision Plan?

I bought the Samsung A500 last week and kept my old voice-only plan (it's a retention plan so I love the minutes). However, I see that on the website, I can dl ringers for $1 a piece and screensavers for $1 a piece (as well as apps such as the Weather Channel for $3.99). My qquestion is, can I do this? Or will I be forced to switch to a Vision plan first? I don't mind paying the $1 per ringer/screensaver. I'd probably save money that way than to switch to a more expensive, less minuted PCS Vision plan.

there are a bunch of free stuff too to download...........and from what i understand if you have a Vision phone but an older 2g plan you can still download things but it will be at 2 cents per KB bandwidth used.
