Just a quick question... If I wanted to write software for a WAP and Bluetooth Enabled Motorola phone, is there an SDK that I can use to develope software to run on a cell phone ? Thanks |

Motorola is very good about providing software development tools. The link below references the 56600 DSP used in many of their phones. (See Chapter 12) Be advised however that the software in most cellphones is monolithic. You are unlikely to find one that lets third-parties add function and features. You will need access to the entire operating system of the phone. That will be much harder to get than an SDK for the hardware. I doubt that the APIs are open! If you really, really think you have a better idea, patent it and then approach Motorola or one of the other companies and sale it to them. Or if you are a large enough concern offer a joint venture. http://e-www.motorola.com/brdata/PDF...DSP56600FM.pdf |

Hey thanks for the reply! My Idea was one that would use this new functionality of bluetooth in the phone with that of a PDA. The way I understand it is that bluetooth will let you set up the link between the cell phone and the PDA,....but then what ? The reason for a cell phone to have Bluetooth conectivity is to send data to it, then do something usefull with that data, and if Motorola will not let developers develop software for their platform then it isn't as usefull as it could be. Any thoughts ? Thanks |
