Default ? about text messaging from Verizon

I just have a quick question about text messaging from Verizon. I just got a Kyocera 2235 from Verizon, and I signed up for a vtext account (free), and I frequently receieve text messages, and I was wondering if it costs money to receieve text messages, because if it does, then I will stop!! I know that it costs money to reply to messages from your phone, but what about receiving them?? someone ppppplease reply, thanks!!

Questions like these you can get much quicker replies by just checking the carrier's website. It took me less than one minute to look up the info on http://www.verizonwireless.com.

From my home in California, the rates are:
10 cents to send
2 cents to receive

Frank,

Yes! Text messages cost money.

You can pay as you go for the rates Kevin mentioned, or you can buy messages in bulk. In the NorthEast you can buy 600 messages for $8.00 per month.
Also, some monthly plans include a small number of messages.

But no matter what, you pay something..... If you have a vtext account you CAN (and probably will) receive messages. You will pay for all messages received -- even if they are junk, spam, unwanted, etc.

The issue of cell phone spam is currently the subject of several lawsuits.
