I'd appreciate feedback on the following new article: http://whitehare.topcities.com/rateconcern.htm (I'm honestly not sure I got the math right.) |

Well, this is an informative article Kevin, but I think its really becoming less of an issue. Why? All new plans for the major carriers have nights starting at 9 PM (although I'm sure Kevin is aware of it, for everybody else, yes, AT&T and Nextel are switching their times soon). AT&T is rumored to do it in early July, and has already done it on some of their plans. Nextel has already done it I think. Old customers might be grandfathered, and many ppl currently have plans that start at 8 pm (or earlier) from carriers that have since switched. But as people upgrade their plans, more and more people will have offpeak starting at 9 pm. For me, I would hardly (probably never - I haven't done it in the last 9 months since I have had digital service that I can remember) make a call between 6-7 am...nobody I know wants to talk on the phone that early. So the difference in peak start time is negligible for me. |

Thanks guys. I think Erub actually pointed out a "hole" in my article. Or better yet, a missing puzzle piece.... Lets say a current subscriber has off-peak starting at 8PM. Lets say he is considering changing his plan (using the same carrier) to a new plan offering more peak minutes. If that new plan has off-peak starting at 9PM, the subscriber may not really be benefiting themselves. They will need to do the math and consider their own calling pattern. addendum: just updated article. |

good article and comments. i'd also point out that most people probably don't care about 6am vs 7am start times for peak calling except for power users. the 8pm vs 9pm is probably more impotant but as erub said - it's not really much of a choice anymore ans most new rate plans have 9pm evening starts....
