Default Customer Service - whose is the best?

It seems that all wireless companies have poor customer service compared to other industries but who has the best (the lesser of evils)?

Depends on the market you are in. I have consistently had (& continue to have) excellent customer service here in Northern California with ATTWS. But apparently this is not the case with ATT on the East Coast.

Conversely, Cingular's customer service here in California has been painted as more painful than a visit to the dentist, while in Texas and other places, they receive rave reviews.

Soooo..... Where do you live?

Verizon, hands down. AT&T is also generally good; Cingular and VoiceStream vary wildly depending on your home area (being in an old Omnipoint market you're likely to get good CS, particularly "tech support, an area in which the old Powertel markets in the Southeast fall down flat), Nextel is often "arrogant" (but I haven't had problems with them), and Sprint PCS still has very, very big CS problems (I don't have to deal with them at all except for PRL updates -- company phone. With a few exceptions, how accurate is it to say that where you live will give you better customer service? I understand that for Cingular (and now AT&T) it could make a difference since you are routed to different centers depending on if you are a TDMA or GSM customer. Also, I think VS still operates their Powertel CS center independent of the rest of VS.

But I'd think for most of the major carriers, you'd be randomly assigned a center when you call. I've spoken wiht VS in various parts of the country I know....I also know that VS (and others as well I am pretty sure) uses software that places higher-paying customers at the front of the line as a bit of customer-retention effort. I am on the family plan $70/mo and I alsmot never wait more than a minute......of course the person who answers may or may not know their stuff...
