Over the last few days I've been reading conflicting reports about AT&T's plans to change their off-peak start time from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Some say that existing TDMA customers will be "grandfathered in (allowed to keep the current 8:00 PM start time for the length of their contracts), but GSM customers won't. Some say that << nobody >> will be grandfathered in--in other words, everybody's off-peak time will be 9:00 in June, whether TDMA or GSM, existing customer or new. Does anybody have the real--and I mean the real--scoop? I'm particularly interested in how this will shape up for existing TDMA customers, as I am one. |

Yes, I've already mentioned this on this forum a few weeks back about AT&T succumbing to pressure and moving to 9pm. All GSM plans have already been starting at 9pm (N/W). On the TDMA side, the National Network plans have already started with 9pm and on June 1st all plans across the board will change to 9pm. An AT&T CS Supervisor told me that existing customers will be able to keep their 8pm n/w start-time so long as they don't change their rate plans. Ouch! There may be some pressure for me in moving to Verizon's Family Share plans....hmmm.... Well ATTWS also got me by the balls because I have 500 MtoM and 1000 n/w promo minutes with my One Rate plan and they won't let me keep my promo if I were to migrate over to the Multi-band One Rate plan (with 9pm n/w minutes). I've been paying about $150/mo lately for 2 accounts and it would benefit ATTWS by providing incentives to migrate over so that customers like me could take advantage of gprs/data services -- and thus potentially bringing in even more revenue for them. So why the tight squeeze on my balls? I don't get it. |

I don't find this any different from the way they have been doing business in the past. When I upgraded my plans recently to take advantage of the extra 50% minutes, I lost my 7PM off-peak time and went to 8PM. It is all a matter of numbers and money. Just as the Cingular/porno thread points out, these companies are in business to make a profit. Though one hour seems like a short time, when you do the math, you find out that your per-day peak-minutes are greatly reduced. That is why I am opting to stay with my current plans until the GSM network is deployed throughout California. From what I am reading from all your posts, I figure I have probably made my last plan change for about the next year. (As far as actually having a use for GPRS, the only thing I could myself doing with it is looking up an occasional restaurant while on the road. Last weekend I & my wife were coming home from visiting friends in Rocklin (NE of Sacto) and we were trying to find a restaurant with a wait time of less than 2 hours. I had totally forgotten it was the "Mother's Day" weekend. I ended up calling my home and speaking to one of my kids asking them for the number of a local restaurant. If I had GPRS, I probably could have looked that up more easily.) |

You're right...but I don't particular mind migrating to the new GSM Multi-band plan WITH 9pm N/W minutes so long as I can keep my promo N/W and MtoM minutes. Right now if I were to migrate over to the Multi-band One Rate plan I would not receive any N/W or MtoM minutes. Again, the issue is not with the system-wide 9pm start-time -- that's something I can't change...BUT what they can offer is for me to maintain the added N/W and MtoM promo minutes. AT&T gave me these promo minutes package on my existing One Rate tdma plan and so what I'm saying is that it would be nice if they could extend that promo to me on a Multi-band One Rate plan. Mind you, this is different than trying to request a change in the system-wide 9pm start-time on a new plan. |

I'll have to remember that. It was my first time there & I probably won't return for about 1 year.

As soon as/ if I can afford it as soon as possible I plan on taking a trip to Sacramento and maybe even the San Fransisco area I just have a lot of internet friends around that area. Some even think I should move there. What do you think should I move to Sacramento? lol |

If you like summer heat, go for it. I prefer milder climates. Even Tracy is too hot for my blood. But a/c work great.

ack, I know Kevin. I've never been there myself but it sounds nice all except that one thing the extreme heat they have in the summer, I hear it can get up to 110 degrees in sacto in summer. Tennessee may get hot sometimes in the summer but it never gets nearly that hot!
