Pulse to Offer Interactive 3D Characters for Enhanced Messaging Applications On 2.5G and 3G Mobile Devices Using TI's OMAP(TM) Processors;
Mobile Device Users to Interact With Pulse Veepers(TM) 3D Personalized Characters for MMS, Enterprise Applications

PR Newswire

Pulse announced today it is working with Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) to offer personalized interface technology on 2.5G and 3G mobile devices that use TI's OMAP application processors. Pulse Veepers on TI's OMAP processors will enhance mobile device users; experiences as they interact with multimedia messaging, enterprise, entertainment and instant messaging wireless applications. Personalized characters such as celebrities or other personalities will help to present information in more intuitive, visually engaging ways on 2.5G and 3G mobile devices.

"Rendering true interactive 3D images on mobile devices powered by TI's OMAP processors creates new opportunities for the leading content providers and the service providers who support them," said Mark Yahiro, president of Pulse. "The ability to transparently access TI's digital signal processing (DSP) functionality in the OMAP 1510, and the substantial support of the OMAP platform by major wireless device manufacturers make TI's offering the most attractive processing platform on the market today. From online commerce and customer service to e-learning and email, TI and Pulse will offer new innovations in engaging wireless applications."

Beyond its proprietary rendering, compression and streaming capabilities, Veepers has the ability to create realistic 3D people and other characters with automated text-to-speech and built-in lip-synching functionality. Pulse's Veepers technology for 2.5G and 3G devices using TI's OMAP processors will allow mobile device users to interact with 3D characters to obtain e-mail, voicemail, news, games, driving conditions and directions, sales and product information and more.

Pulse technology supports RealNetwork's RealPlayer, Apple QuickTime 5 and the leading browsers for Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh PC platforms.

"With Pulse's Veepers technology running on TI's OMAP processors, mobile device users will enjoy exciting interactive multimedia capabilities without sacrificing performance and battery life in a 2.5G and 3G device," said Paul Werp, worldwide director of marketing for TI's OMAP platform. "Wireless device manufacturers will have the opportunity to offer Veepers personalized characters to make it easier for their users to interact and multi-task with high-performance mobile device applications they provide to their subscribers."

Pulse is a member of TI's OMAP Developers Network, a group of software developers writing wireless applications for mobile Internet devices. OMAP developers enjoy a variety of tools and support to enable rapid application development for leading operating systems and programming languages plus the opportunity to collaborate with a range of developers designing applications such as multimedia, security, location based services, mobile commerce and gaming. OMAP developers also benefit from TI's fully open, high-performance and power-efficient OMAP platform, which has been selected by Nokia, Ericsson, Sony, NEC, Matsushazzbuta, Palm, Fujitsu, Hewlett Packard, Sendo, HTC and others for their 2.5 and 3G wireless devices.
