Yup! I got a gophone for 30$! Selected the 20$ plan. I get a month free too because I selected automatic billing . So I'll use it for 2 months, I'll get +/- 160 minutes and I'll get to mess with MMode. All for 30$, plus 20$!

Hope it works out for you, I think you will be very impressed with the GSM voice quality, I have people tell me all the time that I sound just like I'm on a landline and not a cell when talking to them on my 3600.

Interesting, I got a different raction when I used GSM instead of my CDMA phone. The person at the other end of the line said that I sounded quieter, but they could still hear me fine. Personally I like CDMA more, but I don't like the background noise on landlines either. GSM does have some really nice phones though.

I've had the best audio quality with GSM. Infact the other day I had a friend tell me my wireless phone sounded better and was more clear then my landline. As far as phones go. Too bad you got a Siemens. They are crappy phones IMO.

Over all I think GSM is better then the rest, but I think the phone it self makes the biggest difference. As my StarTAC 7868 with Verizon or my Samsung a620 with Sprint sounded just as good as most GSM phone.

StarTACs only sounded good their owner because the handset speaker was so good. However, they had the worst microphone I've seen. People in the other end were the victims of bad sound coming from people using Startacs, especially the CDMA models. They made people sound like they were inside a coffin, similar to the T720 and some Samsung models. But of course, the Startac user could never tell because he never had a chance to hear how horrible he sounded in the other end.

Well that maybe true, but everyone I talked to never mentioned they had a hard time hearing me, or I sounded like crap. As my StarTAC was my only phone while I lived in OR.

Just got it 2 hours ago! I had to mess with my computer monitor (stopped working) first though. Well, the phone is awesome, sounds 2x as good as verizon. I am getting 1-2 bars in my dorm, but it sounds wonderful. I didn't ANYTHING Gophone related in my box! So I called 611, they had no info on the order, so I had to activate over the phone. I had to explain a few things to the guy (as in my first month free). Their system is messed up too, it says my address doesn't exist, but it finally went through. Overall, 20 minutes on the phone total. No hold time at all, quite a pleasant surprise. So far, I am pleased, though I wish they had the crap right from the beginning (as in my payment option etc).

That's good to know. I will be selecting a new phone (and probably carrier) in a few months. I know that typically carriers will not offer a refurbed phone to a new customer who is signing up for a new contract but should I just ask when I sign up? I really need to save $$ on whichever new phone + plan.
