I'm getting the Samsung E-316 when it comes out very soon, I really want to take care of it because i'm going to be stuck with it for 2 years. So what keeps it in better condition? I think the Leather Case scratches it little by little but, then again the clip starts scratching the outside. I'm going to be really paranoid on this so please tell me from experience what you think will be the best. Thanks again! |

On all my phones the leather case has always kept the phone new looking and scratch free. I would go with the case. Just be sure that you can charge and use the phone while it is in the case.

Makes sense, like i've metioned before, I seem to think that flips are more fragile than candybar phones for some reason. Even though i've dropped it many more times than my old candy bar lol. I just want to be extremely careful. |

I would definitely go with the leather case...I tried the clip on my a670 and accidentally bumped my phone resulting in some minor scratches...I was able to buff most of it out, but still...I was upset... |

I would go with the leather case or a pouch. Holsters will scratch the phone up a lot more. Also I have had my phone(s) fall out of holsters because I thought the phone was securely fastened. |

I have had my VGA 1000 in the leather case since I got it on March 19, 2004. I only take it out to charge and ocasionally wipe the screen off if it gets dust on it. I also tried the clip for one day, since my shorts that I was wearing didn't have a pocket in them and the phone worked perfectly.....but again the phone was in the leather case and then I clipped it on the clip. Definitely use the leather case.

I've used clips for years and the phones always found a way to pop out, usually at the most inopportune times. Getting on a rental car bus to the airport is my most frequently occuring time. When I got my slider a few weeks ago, I decided to get a clip on pouch for the phone. It works great. The phone can't come out of the pouch unless you pull it out. I can still answer the phone with my headset, even when the phone is closed in the pouch. I'd recommend a pouch over a clip or leather cover. Good Luck! (and let us know how you like the new phone!) I have a Body Glove Ion case with clip. It's great...fits like a glove..doesn't take away from the feel of the phone or feeling like your not touching the keys and it protects it from water and such. Here is Oregon you really need protection from the rain and such. Leather case is always good...protects the phone and keeps it looking good. |

I prefer to use the pouch also for my phone. At times i will use the holsters but not as often as i do the pouch. |

On a side note the 4400, comes with a desk charger, I had to take it out of the case to charge it. I spent a few bucks and bought a travel charger.

Pouches are good cause it's cushioned and you just slide your phone in and out where as the holster, clip, you just attach it to your phone and that's that. Up side of that, you can answer it faster when it rings, down side it could pop out of the clip and also it'll get scratched. |

I use a small bodyglove pouch for my samsung i500. Fits great and is more comfortable on my belt. The phone/pouch doesn't sit so high that it pokes me when I sit - of course if I didn't sit so much at the bar or table, I wouldn't have so much to poke! I use a clip for the sanyo 5500. I've had a few occassions where the phone wasn't secure or I hit something and it popped out. I prefer the pouch for protection and comfort. The downside is you can't access the outside display w/o removing the phone. I've gotten used to it. |

Another problem with the holsters is that they eventually scratch the phone in certain places because of the friction when taking it in and out of the holster. However, holsters give easier access to the phone since they are not intrusive as Anthromatt said. But everything is a tradeoff. You give up convenience for security. Leather cases are the most secure of all since they protect the phone at all times keeping the phone scratch-free. Pouches give you part of both worlds because they don't scratch the phone as you take it in and out like holsters do, but they prevent you from seeing the external screen unless you take the phone out of the pouch. However, pouches are not intrusive when you are using the phone, although they are not as protective as leather cases because if the phone falls, that's a sure scratch. However, since my hands are not made of butter, I am willing to trade off the leather case full-time protection for the convenience of a pouch. That's why I prefer using a pouch. Also, as mentioned above, the pouch doesn't poke me when I sit, so it is more comfortable to wear than the holster.

Sprint sells one of those "hydrofoam" pouches in their stores with a clear front so that you can actually see the display. The problem is that my phone (V600) fits in side it too snug, so I end up having to use two hands to get the phone if it is ringing. If only it were a bit wider.... So I am also using a Body Glove pouch and it is quite nice.

Hydrofoam? Doesn't that have the tendency to stick to the phone and therefore make it more difficult to take it out causing the problem you describe? One of the most annoying problems with leather cases is that their clear plastic part always sticks to the phone and people spend a lot of time struggling with it.

I have one of those Motorola pouches that goes down at an angle in the front so you can see the front screen. Those other pouches just go straight up blocking the front screen which i don't like but with the motorola one it's perfect! |

Agreed, same here, i also prefer pouches, cases tend to take away from the looks of the phone.....
