Default Sprint lands 55 Qwest towers in Montana and Wyoming as part of the deal!

As expected Sprinticon will be taking over 55 of Qwest's towers as part of the deal that was announced a couple of weeks ago. This will give Sprinticon new coverage in Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Great Falls, Helena, Kalispell and Missoula, Montana. It will also give Sprinticon new coverage in the Casper & Lander areas of Wyoming. The new coverage is supposed to be finalized in the 1st quarter 2004.

Christ, why would anyone sign up with Qwest? That coverage is terrible. It will be OK I am sure for roamers form LA/NYC etc. but for those living there--it's pathetic. I still do not quite fully understand the Qwest/Sprinticon relationship. Sprinticon gets this, Qwest markets as Sprinticon...? What the heck is going on?

I have idea, I certainly wouldn't go with them. Across Northern Montana, Amtrak's Empire Builder is how a lot of people get from place to place, go to doctors, ship and receive, but Qwest's coverage would leave them out cold, unless they allow roaming on other CDMA carriers.

Yeah the whole deal is still a little unclear right now. I receievd an e-mail from an official at Qwest and he confirmed that the 55 towers going to Sprint is a done deal. But for some reason none of those towers are in the Dakotas. All of Qwest's customers will be converted over to Sprint by next year sometime. I'm just wondering how Qwest's customers in the Dakotas are going to use Sprint service without Sprint having a presence there.
