Don't know about its performance but I would never buy it -- simply because it doesn't have an outer display and that would be absolutely annoying having to flip open my phone everytime I wanted to SEE who's calling.

I would stay away from the VX3100. It lacks an outer LCD and the inner screen leaves much to be desired. This phone is also digital only (i.e. no analog service). batteryicon life is apparently pretty good though. A good friend of mine purchased it and hates it.

In deciding on your new phone, one question you will need to answer at the outset is whether you need analog service. Depending on where you live or travel to in NJ (particularly in some spots of North Jersey and Delaware Water Gap), you may need analog service.

If you need analog and plan to buy right now, spend the extra $50 beans and get the VX4400 - it is a far superior phone in all respects. If you can wait, the Audiovox 8600 is on the horizon for VZ, as is the Moto V60p, which will have PTT capabilities (similar to Nextelicon's Direct Connect).

If a digital only phone fits your needs, Samsung's a530 is a very nice, quality phone or you can go for the VX6000, which has a camera and is popular among the users of this forum. I personally prefer the a530.

Ultimately, it depends upon your needs and how much you want to spend. Keep in mind that VZ has a 15 day money back guarantee so try out a phone and if you don't like it return and get another.....

i agree with Q. get the phone you want and use the trial policy. you can always change within the 15 day trial policy
