Default Verizon workers/users....can I do this?

I have a FREEUP account under my own name. I am 17 (got it when I was 16 @ RS), and will be 18 this June. Won't be getting a credit card till I get to college, so basically it'll be awhile before I get credit. So, can I have my father/mother take over my FREEUP account. Put it in their name....then a few monthes/weeks/whenever get them to sign up for a contract? That way my number is kept, theres no down payment etc. Then when that one year contract is up, I can move the account back to me, when I have credit. Sounds like it will work, right?

I believe you can switch the number from prepay to contract at the same time you transfer it over. I thought I remember something that Verizon splits FreeUP number blocks from contract number blocks, so that might play a part.

Most likely they do split the prepay and post pay numbers into seperate blocks, most companies will do that to make you call processing faster as well as switch maintenance. (When your call is placed the system looks in the swithc and the prepay servers to see if you have a balance in order to place the call, if you mix those numbers the code gets to be pretty messy.)

We do split the number blocks between free-up and post paid. You will have to switch your number if you go post paid.

In your market you will have to get a new number. DE uses the current Vision billing system and the numbers for pre pay and post pay are separate.

That is STUPID! I will not go to Verizon for my postpay needs. They told me I could change w/o using my number, now they changed that. The only reason to go to them for postpay is to save the 35$ activation fee, or would I have to pay that too, though I am a customer? Screw them, and their stupid anti-anything good idea company.

Actualy, I did soem diggging and at this point most companies do the same thing. It alows them to maintain simpler billing/ap systems on thier end.

What annoyed me as an RS employee is that you could get postpay numbers for my county (Bucks), but the closest PrePay numbers were out of Philadelphia, which meant calling a FreeUP would be a toll call from people's homes in the couuty.

Well doesn't matter. They will not be getting my postpay needs, why should they? I can't keep my number or anything. My friend has a postpay Verizon account only a few digits away from mine. Whatever, I'll go to Sprint or Cingular.
