| Is boost mobile worth the money? I like the motorola I90c with the color screen. Is prepaid worth the money? It says 1.00 a day u can use unlimited push to talk (digital walkietalkie), does that include everyday or just the day that use it. For example: if you use it monday costs 1.00 for unlimited say u don't use it on tues but u use it on a weds, do you only get charge for 2 days rather than 3? Is Boostmoblile to consider? any opinions about it? |

I have the i55. I can't say much about the walkie talkie feature, because I haven't used it. But I believe it's just $1 on each day you USE it. What I DON'T like about boost is that they deduct minutes from your balance even when you check voicemails from a phone other than your boost phone, such as a landline phone. I'm very paranoid to give out my boost phone # because if I had to check say, 15 voice messages, POOF! there goes most of my minutes! If someone knows a way around this I'd like to know, but I'm considering going to VirginMobile. |

| is the Motorola I60c any good for boost mobile? I heard that they charge .20 a day for wireless web and text messaging. you can deactivate it by calling customer service. I don't know why they charge .25 a min for voicemail for. Do anyone have opinions about thier service since its basically originally Nextel? |

Boost's rates for cellular calls are on the high side; their rates for other services (DC, WAP, text messaging) are fairly reasonable, especially given that most other carriers don't even offer WAP to prepaid customers and certainly don't sell "unlimited" text messaging. (Boost only charges for DC on days it's actually used, but charges 20c/day = ~$6/mo for WAP and text messaging.) Coverage is the same as Nextel, but is (currently) restricted to only a few markets (they aren't here in Atlanta yet, for instance.) I expect coverage to expand dramatically, to most if not all Nextel (Communications at least) markets, over the next few months; Nextel has indicated Boost is doing fairly well. Eww, I thought the .20 for wap/sms was only for the days you used it. The pricing still isn't bad, but for prepay 6$ a month adds up! I don't know anyone on Nextel, so DC is worthless. But, I have thought about getting Boost when it comes, but decided to stay with FREEUP.

Yep Jack's right. My favorite thing about Verizon's FREEUP is FREE weekend minutes. Cannot beat that at all.

Airb, In fairness the weekend minutes aren't free, just "included" with a reup of a certain amount. |

Well I did recieve a 1000 weekend minutes when I activated, then a few weeks later the Nokia 5185i was the same price....but with only 200 W.E. minutes...so thats basically free. And the weekend minutes could go away, so I don't consider them included in the price, just a nice extra.

Airb, Fair enough. However, when you say "free" minutes around these forums most people think of "free" in terms of post paid plans(that is use however many you want). Just wanted to make sure it was clear to others what the terms of the "free" weekend minutes with FreeUp are. I love FreeUp as it's the cheapest option for a cell phone for me. I really should start using my phone more often though as my balance keeps climbing and I don't seem to use the phone any more than I did when I had only $15 in there when I setup the account. |

True Mooby, but if someone asks for more info, I give it to them about the weekend minutes. Christ, I used like 15 minutes yesterday, but then sometimes I go for 5 days without using any peak minutes.

Hey Airb, Speaking of FreeUp, I've got a question for you. From time to time, when using my phone, I'll go to place a call and It'll just sit there saying "Dialing" and I won't get the "You have XX minutes.." message. It'll just sit there saying "Dialing". Usually if I hang up and redial it works fine but sometimes I have to turn the phone on and off. I don't remember this happening with my Kyocera but I didn't really use my phone often when I had that phone so it may have done it with it. At any rate, have you ever experienced this? I might have to shoot verizon an email and see if they have any idea. |

YESSSSSSSSSS!! It happens all the freaking time! I thought it was just me...! Yeah, my 510 shows I am connected to the tower....and it is pure silence...nothing at all. Sometimes it does it like 5-10 times, then I have to dial *228 and reprogram the phone for it to work! Quite a pain in the a$s! I am thinking the next time it does it, I am calling 611 and telling them to fix it, or just turn off the minute meter feature. I guess I really don't need it, I keep track of minutes(balance) online mostly.

Airb, It did it to me once today(while digging my car out of my campus parking lot no less) and I noticed that I could hear what sounded like voices (albeit it they were EXTREMELY faint). I have no idea what does it and I'm not sure if it's related to the minute meter or not. I'll email Verizon and see what they say. If it is due to the minute meter, that's no big deal as I too keep track of my time online(and I can always turn it back on or check the balance by *611) but it's really annoying when you're trying to quickly catch someone only to have your phone refuse to place a call. |

Post what they say here, or just send it to my email address. I know how you feel, its annoying as heck. You phone obviously connects to the tower but then nothing right? That's how it is for me, the seconds timer is ticking.....but nothing is happening.

Here's what they said, I haven't used the phone yet since they did this so I don't know if I'll still occasionally have problems with it. Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless through our website. We apologize for the delay in responding to your inquiry. Thank you for your inquiry, Dave. I do apologize that you are not able to hear your minutes message on your mobile phone. I have reset your messaging level on your phone so that you can hear your remaining minutes and any other alerts on your phone. You can also reset it by dialing *611 from your mobile phone. Choose option 3 to change your account profile. It will then ask you to enter your passcode. Choose 2 to change your messaging level, then choose 1 to hear all standard messages on your phone. If you have a problem, it becomes our problem the first time you contact us. |
