Default Wireless Router and File Server?

I currently have a wireless router which serves two laptops, which are running short on space. I also have an external 120Gb hard drive with a USB2.0 connector. To access the files on there I have to plug it in to either laptop.

It strikes me that an ideal solution would be to have a wireless router that I can plug the hard drive into, which would then serve both laptops with shared internet and file server. Does such a device exist? Any recommendations ?

I am not familiar with them, but i know that there are routers that also act as a file server. Try google.

Most Routers can be setup that way, as for the exact directions I can't help you, The instructions with the router should be able to tell you the way to do it and set it up as an additional drive. You may need to have it connected to a computer to give it the power/OS it needs though.

You can also buy harddrives that have network connections and can easily be linked to your network.

If your wireless router or USB 2.0 HD does not have this function, then you can buy a Network Storage Link for USB 2.0 Disk Drives that adds storage space to your network.

Here is a Linksys model:

Any wireless router with a USB 2.0 port should work. Here are two:

SMC2804WBRP-G
Barricade™ g Wireless Broadband Router with Built-in USB Print Server

Wireless G Plus Router with Built-In USB Print Server
