I am confused about this plan. Obviously (I thought) you get a new phone, your contract renews and you go 2 years. Then you renew and get the $100 credit on a phone. However, I got new phones in 9/04. On family plan/3 lines. That would mean I could renew in 9/06 for new phone. Mine is primary line. In august of this year I had problem w/phone. When I brought it in, they repaired it but also made a comment about how it was too bad I was just weeks away from being able to get a new one. In my head I said "huh?" It would only be 1 year. Well what the heck, I went in in Sept and got a new one. My hubby asked about his and they said he couldn't do his July 06 could he do it? The guy told him it's every 2 years for him, but if you come in 2 months shy of that, they will let you do it. That would be July 06 for him so that's correct. Then he said that the PRIMARY holder can do it every year. Has ANYONE else been told this? No one ever said that to me. In fact I read somewhere that the secondary lines on a family plan aren't even eligible for free every 2. HELP???????????????????????? |

Ok, well, not too sure why they let you upgrade that early. Did you activate all the lines at one time? I've had several customers start off as a single line and then I moved them to a family share plan, which meant their contract dates were completely different. The way it goes for new every 2, it HAS to be every 2 yrs, but you can upgrade at 10 months if on a 1yr contract and at 22 months if a 2yr. To me it sound like either your contract dates are messed up (known to happen) or the agent forced the upgrade. I recommend calling into VZW customer service to see what's going on |

You sign a 2-year contract when getting a new phone for the primary line. After 22 months you can get an extra $100 off the new customer price on a new phone for the primary line if you sign another 2-year contract. All other lines can get the new customer price when upgrading. When you can upgrade your phone is often flexible. Generally, with 2 months left on your contract you can upgrade your phone. What really gets confusing is the uneven timing. Each line/phone has it's own upgrade date based on when you got the phone at a discount. They make you wait b/c the discount is subsidized by what you pay for service (very sneaky). If you have a more expensive plan, you can often upgrade your phone earlier. If you call CS, they will can you the upgrade date for each phone. |

My husband, son & I all got new phones at the same time in 9/04. At that time my line was eligible for new phone. I gave the upgrade to my son tho as he wanted a camera phone and I didn't care. So he got that free and my husband and I paid $30 ea. for our phones. I considered that my using my credit and not eligible for another until 06. But I just got a new phone w/credit in 9/05. I'll call them and ask for curiosity sake. Thanks

turns out everyone on plan IS eligible. It's supposed to be 2 years after you get your phone, you get the $100. They will let you do it 2 months early. (so 22 months) I called today and asked. They looked up all 3 #'s on my acct and told me they could upgrade and what date they were eligible. Still not sure why they let me upgrade mine this august, when my 2 years wasn't until next sept. Oh well!

Okay...so that means the CSR didn't screw up!! As when we first signed up, all phone numbers showed NE2...since then, because of my business, we've gotten off the family plan and have 2 individual plans. This way, if I need to adjust my minutes, etc., it's doesn't affect my DH.

No CSR did not screw up as far as everyone on family plan being able to do it. ALTHOUGH...if you go on Verizon's web site and go to the Every 2 explaination it says right on there site that numbers other than the primary one are not eligible. But they are. Where the CSR screwed up with me was allowing me to upgrade after 1 year as opposed to 2. I got my phone in Sept 04 and they let me upgrade this sept. My hubby thought maybe primary line was allowed to every year, but when I called verizon they said my next upgrade would not be until 2007, which is correct. Who knows? Although it ended up being no favor to me as the phone I got, the lg vx6100 has caused me nothing but problems. I'll probably switch back to my old vx3200 and will now have to wait 2 years to upgrade! |

OHH so you mean only I (main acct) get the $100...the others CAN get new phones every 2 years, but they pay whatever the discounted price is for the 2 years. That May be what the web site means by only the primary acct is eligilbe for free every 2. That would make sense. I got the LG VX 2100 for nothing. Their price was $50, but I had the credit. Actually, they messed up because I had only had my current phone for 1 year. Doesn't matter anyway. I'm back to my old phone (vx3200). The 6100 sucked. So it's in a drawer |
