Default Setting up an Unlocked CDMA Phone

I am currently going through RRC Wireless (Unicel) as a carrier in Grand Forks, North Dakota. It's a CDMA network, but I'm getting tired of my phone. For ages now I've been looking at the Motorola Razr V3, but I can't switch to Cingular or Tmobile because they don't cover my area. I've just recently heard of a new CDMA Razr that's coming out next year.

Will it be possible to get an unlocked CDMA Razr and use it with my Unicel Plan?

How would I go about setting up an unlocked phone through my plan? Thanks

Sorry, I'm a CellPhone Noob...I've only just learned about CDMA, GSM etc today.

First of all, before you get too far into this, make sure that Unicel allows you to use unbranded/unlocked phones on their network, meaning phones that are not officially UNICEL branded. After they give you that answer someone else will be able to help you more, because I honestly couldn't tell you.
Good luck and welcome to the Boards!!!

I see, thanks a lot! So there would be no possible way if they didn't allow unlocked/unbranded phones? I'll have to talk to them tomorrow, thanks for the help.

See, here's how it works, but remember that I'm by no means an expert in this field.
Every CDMA phone has a specific assigned ESN number, and with that number, UNICEL can tell whether or not it is a UNICEL branded phone, and if they don't allow non-UNICEL branded phones there would be no way, since they can clearly tell by entering the ESN number into their system. I know that Sprint doesn't allow non-sprint branded phones on their network, but just ask them to be sure. Tell them it's an unbranded phone though.

Hey, thanks a lot for your help again. I went and talked to Unicel today, and they in fact do not allow unlocked phones on their service. But they claimed They were getting the Motorola Razr CDMA By October/November...But I'm not sure if they were talking about this year or next year now
They made it sound like it was this year

You are Welcome!
The CDMA RAZR is coming out towards the end of the year, or is, at least scheduled for it, so it might be possible, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it.
