Leaving T-mobile for Verizon

I plan on giving my account and phones to a friend who will take them over so my family can move to Verizon. My dad drives over the road and has been getting very bad reception and we hope with Verizon it will be better. I was wondering if anyone here has experience or knowledge about this process.

I know the person taking over the account (family plan with 3 lines) will have to get a credit check. Is it possible to call with the person a while before we do the switch to verify that she will be able to take it? So I have time to search for someone else if she can not?

I know porting a number normally means cancellation fees but is there a way to request the numbers be changed? Then would they be freed up for any provider to use at that time and could I request a certain number with Verizon? Or any other way that won't cost that will allow me to keep the numbers?

I'm about to "hurl" my phone at the wall, flush it down the toilet, or do something "bad" to T-Mobile! I hate the My T-Mobile address book back-up system! :censored:

The problem was worse with the Samsung T-659 I had, but is happening again with the Sony Ericsson Equinox I just purchased. I finally get the address book in and right, but then I simply try to enter in a new entry. When my phone then talks to the website and visa-versa, it then duplicates, triplicates and "mixes" contacts together!:mad::banghead: If I go in either to the website or phone...delete the duplicates, it'll then put them back in again! Or it'll take my personal addresses and put them back in as a business address in my phone!

Recently I had the audacity to add in a new contact for a pizza place we frequent. I entered everything to the correct spot on the phone, save it and thought it was done with. BUT NOOOO! It then took 2 of my other contacts, duplicated one, triplicated the other...and within one of the triplicated contacts it mixed my friends address and phone #'s with the pizza place! :censored:

Anybody have any suggestions on preventing this from happening? I'm ready to go back to a BlackBerry, which doesn't use this service...or jumping the "SS-T-Mobile" for good! Is T-Mobile aware of this issue? Each time I call one of the reps or tech's, it's like they are oblivious to the situation. I can't believe I'm the only one having this issue.

Sorry for the rant. Let me know if you have any knowledge about this or suggestions.

Thanks!

Question:

Can you roam internationally (south america) if you have the even more plus plan (the one that doesn't require a contract)?

I'm on the website and it is giving me the opportunity to select the WorldClass International Service. In the fine print it says "Additional credit approval required." So am I to understand that I can roam internationally without a contract so long as they have my credit info?

I'm just a bit skeptical that you would be able to roam beyond North America without some type of contract because of the significant delays that can occur when reporting roaming info between carriers.

I called t-mobile customer service in hopes of getting an answer but the CS rep didn't sound too convincing to say the least. Nice lady though.

After changing my phone number, I received a text message four days later from someone that was not given the new phone number.

Is it possible that it was sent to the old number four days ago and I just now got notified that it was sent? However, the time stamp says it was sent today, not four days ago.

tmobileman, how does it work going from a Pay As You Go account to the new Even More Plus account?

I've been told a new SIM card is needed. Is this the case? Can the mobile number be kept? If not, why?

I have a friend who's on PAYG $100 for 1000 minutes and wants to convert to Even More Plus. He went to a corporate store and a fool rep told him he couldn't keep his number. The rep did not check his number in the computer, he just told him no. I knew this wasn't right, as I recently asked this very question when getting set back up with T-Mo again.

Can he get a SIM card via customer service, or should he go to a store? If he needs to go to a store, does it matter where he goes? He lives in the L.A. area, but has a San Diego number (858). Can he visit a store in L.A. or does he have to go to one in San Diego?

I'm thinking all he has to do is call prepaid CS, tell them what he wants to do and have them step him through the process. I know it's cheaper to have a SIM sent versus getting one in a store (I only paid $7 plus tax for mine via an on-phone sales rep).

Lastly, are there any types of situations where prepaid customers cannot keep their number when moving to postpaid accounts? I know credit worthiness can be the biggest factor, but is there anything else?

Thanks in advance for your input with these questions.

As proof the poster stated that on the TMO site they no longer list the phones that are HotSpot enabled (in fact the Nokia 7510 has disappeared from the offering). I just signed up with TMO last week (luckily no contract). I signed with TMO just to get HotSpot (UMA) calling. Anyone have any info? T-Mobileman?

Got the "Even More Plus" ( this is one of the new plans they started this week) family plan with 2 lines and 1500 minutes for $60 ($64 with taxes). I had been paying Verizon $103 for 1400 minutes; a nice savings and 100 more minutes too boot. Supplied my own phones that I bought used on eBay; a Nokia 7510 and a Samsung t339 (paid about $140 for the 2 of them). We use the UMA (Hotspot) feature at home and it gives us signal where we never had before (we live in the boonies).

I have heard that starting Monday, T-Mobile will no longer require a 2 year contract to get @ Home service. As I am a month to month Flex Pay customer, this is good news for me.

While T-Mobile @ Home is not a wireless service, you do have to be a T-Mobile wireless customer to get it.
