Default Memphis, TN

Leaving tonight for a trip down desolate I-57 through the ENTIRE state of Illinois....destination Memphis. Anyone know how my coverage will be alogn the way...but especially in Memphis....with both TMobile and Cingular?

On the front page of WA I see for Cingular THREE 1900 MHZ licenses and ONE 850 license. What is Cingular(Orange and Blue) operating at in Memphis?

Have fun on your trip Shizam.

My family and I will be taking I-57 when we go from Bloomington to Chicago in a few weeks.

Cingular has Orange on cellular and Blue on PCS here in Memphis. I came on with BellSouth Mobility in 1999, and it's quite solid. I've also used my Cingular SIM in a Nokia 5190, showing ROAM of course, to feel out the Blue network. I's what you'd expect--urban, suburban, and interstate highway coverage. Same for T-Mobile.

Back from Memphis! Had a good time.....definately not a nice clean area to visit...to say the least

Anyhow....service was great on Cingular orange and TMobile. I was not allowed to roam on TMobile at all after I had exited the Chicago market.....anyone know why it is set up like this? They allow us to roam in the Chicago market because of the population of this market compared to the others?? Don't know.

Southern Illinois on I-57 was a weak area....1-2 bars in alot of places, on both carriers.

Some weird things I hope someone can explain.....

In southern Illinois, I was allowed to roam on what my display said was "USAFC" with code 310-910. Dialing 611 got me Cingular wireless C/S....what is USAFC??

Then further up in southern Illinois, up until I entered Champaign county, I was able to roam on what my display showed as "USA-190". Code was 311-190....I've never seen 311! Everytime I dialed a number it would say "Call forwarding" and my call would go through. 611 got me Cingular again. However, this time I dialed #121 and got a "You have reached Cellular One....."blah blah blah. I didn't think Cell one was anywhere near here! Also....why would the display show USA-190 and not "Cellular One" if that's who I was on? Is this USA 190 a reseller or something like Centennial is for Cingular?

Champaign County is just one county west of where I will be, and where I used to live...at Vermilion County.

Maybe because Champaign is in the middle of nowhere....lol. J/k.

Yeah. But my dad wants to go over to ISU and then we want to stop and eat at Avanti's Italian Restaurant. There sub sandwiches are the best.

I like to get their Avanti's Famous Gondola (Ham, Salami, Cheese, Lettuce) or their small pizza. Their bread is so good. Now I am hungry for Avanti's....lol.

Have you ever eaten at an Avanti's Shizam?

Yeah. Well when I go back to my old hometown (Danville), we are going to visit some relatives.

I am glad that I live down here where there are more things to do and there aren't miles of corn, wheat, and soybean fields.
