I live on the KY/TN/VA border and have Verizon service. They have been promising service on the KY side for about 4 years...well finally they (VZ) bought out Ramcell and it looks like it is a done deal. My question is...why is the conversion date such a secret? The press release said
1Q2008 and there has been some gossip that it will be 1/1/08 however, if you ask the local office they act like you have asked them for the formula for coke

We are all just really anxious because when traveling on the KY side...we have analog and it is basically worthless as it only works about 1/2 the time. AT&T works great but for the area as a whole VZ is much better.

My guess is that store reps don't really know when exactly it will happen and Verizon Wireless themselves does not want to give a specific date in case they don't live up to their promise, so Q12008, as a general statement, is better for the company, even though I know where your frustrations come from. It would be nice to have an exact date.
