Verizon Wirelessicon Enhances Network Capacity in Southwest Indiana
Wednesday September 26, 1:15 pm ET

JASPER, Ind., Sept. 26, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Verizon Wirelessicon, the only major carrier with a 30-day network test-drive pledge that pays for calls if a customer isn't satisfied and switches to another carrier, has upgraded equipment on its existing cell sites in Dubois, Greene and Martin counties.
The cell site upgrades enable more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls; send and receive email and text, picture and video messages; and download games, music and ringtones while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

``Reliable networks are not built overnight,'' said Greg Haller, president-Indiana/Kentucky/Michigan Region, Verizon Wireless. ``We continue to efficiently invest in network enhancements to deliver the reliable and innovative services our customers want.''

The network improvements are part of Verizon Wireless' continual effort to expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Indiana and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested $40 billion nationally since the company was formed -- $5 billion on average every year -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. More than $732 million of this investment was spent in Indiana.

That's good to know! Do any of the other providers up there offer 3g yet or is Verizonicon the first one to introduce 3g to your area?

Nope I think Verizonicon is the only one up here that now has 3g.. All my other friends that have different cell companies (Sprinticon, Alltel, Unicel) still have the 1x in their display..
