Verizon Wireless Invests More Than $100 Million in Ohio in the First Half of 2007 Network Enhancements Total Nearly $190 Million in State Over the Last Year DUBLIN, Ohio, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless announced today that it has invested an additional $100 million to enhance services and coverage in Ohio in the first half of 2007. The company has invested nearly $190 million in Ohio in the past twelve months and the coverage area will continue to grow. Verizon Wireless offers its high-speed Evolution Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev. A) network in cities throughout Ohio including Akron, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo and Zanesville. The Rev. A network enables Verizon Wireless customers to download files at speeds approximately six times faster than customers of wireless service providers who use non-EV-DO technology. "By continuing to expand our coverage in Ohio, we provide our customers with the highest quality of service," said Roger Tang, president- Ohio/Pennsylvania/West Virginia Region, Verizon Wireless. "We have heavily invested in the state to provide the most reliable network that enables our customers to take advantage of the latest advances in wireless technology like music, video and much more." The Rev. A wireless broadband network provides customers with services such as V CAST which allows customers to stream video clips, play cutting-edge 3D games and download full-song tracks over the air directly to their phones, and VZ Navigator, a location-based service offering maps and audible driving directions. The Rev. A network also allows customers to access the company's high-speed wireless network and experience download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second and upload speeds of 500-800 kbps. This provides customers access to their email and calendar, the Internet and other information anytime, anywhere via a high-speed secure connection.
