Default Quick 2 Net and Nationaccess on VZW America's Choice

A few moths back, I got a data cable for my phone with VZW's Data Suite. I installed the software, and have always used just quick 2 net. I thought in the past I had read something about ppl on America's choice being able to use national access (formerly express net) for just airtime. I called VZW today, and the tech told me that this was correct.

    Was he right?

Anybody else used Mobile Internet in WI with VZW?

Apparently this was(is) correct. I've been trying to research this as well, but haven't gotten enough information on it yet. Apparently, your account needs to have something called EN MOU or something along those lines for you to be able to use it. That's as much as I know right now; any more info would also be appreciated from my side.

I tried it, and it WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe it. I am now a VZWicon customer for life. Screw the $80/month for unlimited, all I need are unlimited nights and weekends (which I have).

    <Does FLIPS>

    I am just soooo Happy!

I had a tech tell me that it's true. If I get charged extra, hopefully I can argue it.

Anyway, Its amazing. Wish I knew this a month ago.

Got VZW at a Best Buy.
    America's Choice 400 with Unlimited N&W / UNL IN-Calling
    $39.99/mo

I later bought the cable for my phone at the Verizonicon store. I came home, installed the data software, and was on quick 2 net in no time.

I did however, call Verizonicon and tell them I was going to use quick 2 net, and asked if i needed mobile web (as the stupid rep in the store told me).

    He said no.

When you setup the verizon suite on a PC, you type in your wireless number, and it says that it is used to enable express network/qnc on your account.

Then when you start the actual dialup tool, asks whether you want to connecto to express net or qnc.

Good luck, I still can't believe it. If this works as planned, I may have discovered the cheapest way to connect to the internet from anywhere wirelessly above 14.4 k/sec. Its amazing. I got 60k/sec when I tried it, just an hour ago.

I tend to think the software suite tells your account to enable access when you first establish a connection.

Best $40 bucks i've ever spent.

sillybilly, do you mean express network, or wireless web? I know that wireless web is airtime free on the majority of sites linked from the vzw-msn page on your phone. The difference is whether or not you are accessing Verizonicon's servers or a different one. Airtime applies only when you leave the VZW site.

Andy, my airtime changed today, and i still cant tell whether or not the airtime was deducted, but i will experiment. It hink however, that t was.

I will do an experiment and see. My billing period ends on the 8th. I will go online at a designated time and see if it shows up on the statement.

Yes, mobile office kit allows the use of BOTH in this case, quick 2 net (the circuit switched 14.4K, and express network (nationaccess), 150K/sec.

I'm not sure which of these data services supports mobile web. I have mobile web, if htat makes a difference reguarding the nationalaccess usage. If mobile web uses nationalaccess, I'd be willing to bet thats why I can get it. IDK tho, as customer service told me that mobile web used quick2net.

Mobile Web= browsing the internet with the built in web browser on your phone (depending on which phone model you have some phones will connect at 14k aka "qnc...quick net connection" some will connect at 60-80k average with a peak of 144k this would be NationalACCESS) there are even newer phones that will connect at BroadbandACCESS speeds (Audiovox XV6600 "HTC Harrier" and another new LG).

As for connecting with a mobile office kit you don't need to have mobile web, but you would need to have the NationalAccess feature on your account.

Your connection speeds will depend on which numbers you dial and what you use for your password (the Verizonicon Mobile Office kit will automatically configure this for you.)

14k QNC Quick Net Connect (or quick 2 net) uses your airtime
60-80k with 144k peak (NationalACCESS) users are currently able to access this speed by using airtime with mobile office kits. Newer PDA's and Smartphones are requiring a data feature to be added, primarily because these new devices can create an "always on" connection to the internet, where your PDA will be connected to the internet at all times (although in a dormant state) to allow quicker email syncs and access to webbased content and features. without the data feature a phone could rack up thousands of dollars in overage.

The data plans for PDA's are "ala carte ".015 cents per k, or $24.99 for 5 MB or $44.99 for Unlimited Usage.

Since National Access is considered a premium service in the future the Minutes of Use option may go away, from what I hear there will be NO way to get a Minutes of Use plan for Broadband Access its pay for it or don't have it, which makes since considering the Billions of dollars VZW is investing to roll this out.

    But for now, Happy Browsing.

I've heard that just about any data cable will work. I've got a generic vx6000 cable that can be set up as a modem. I haven't tried connecting yet, but here are the configuration settings I've seen for creating a dial-up connection.

EN: $79.99 for unlimited usage/month. There are quite an array of other plans (one that has its own minutes, and one that uses MBs of bandwidth to measure usage). Either plan works the same, you use up the Minutes or MBs, you start getting charged MOU. Otherwise, if you have no plan at all, anyone with a Verizonicon account can use EN for MOU, you get charged like a phone call. This has been verified by two Verizonicon CS/Sales employees, and first and second hand experience.

    IT WORKS!

Andoy, according to the page listed above, the special feature is already likely there. MOU=Minutes of Usage

These instructions will work for WinXP. There shouldn't be much difference for older versions.

Once your VX6000 is installed as a modem (LG CDMA USB Modem) and connected to your computer...

    My Computer
    Control Panel
    Phone and Modem Options
On the Modems Tab, select you LG CDMA USB Modem, click Properties
On the Advanced Tab, enter AT$QCMDR=3 as the extra initialization commands
Hit OK twice to get back to Control Pannel

    Network Connections
    Create a new connection
    Next
    Connect to the Internet, Next
Set up my connection manually, Next
Connect using a dial-up modem, Next
ISP Name: VZW EN (or whatever you choose), Next
    Phone number: #777, Next
Set for your user or all users, Next
User name: ##########@vzw3g.com (replace ### with your 10-digit phone number)
    Password: vzw
    Confirm password: vzw
Choose other options as needed, Next
    Finish

Now you should be able to re-enter your username and passowrd and connect.

From my experience, I was able to get about twice the speed of dial-up.
Your battery should last about as long as making a call (I think).
The #777 number shows up on your bill as (777)000-000 just like data for WAP.

Just to confirm, yes, Express Net, AKA National Access is billed accurately as airtime usage for America's Choice Subscribers. (I have confirmed it on my bill). However, be careful, as the minutes used have a delay in showing up under My Account.

I think the VZW software is available online (on the VZW site).
    I could be wrong.

Default Re: Quick 2 Net and Nationaccess on VZW America's Choice

But you had mobile web on your account, correct?
