I'm not sure about Sprint and Alltel, but GSM phones aren't made to use for an Internet connection like this.

I think that if more people knew about it, more would e using it, obviously. Then there are the people who are paying $60 a month (old price) for unlimited EN seperately. I'm sure they'd be happy to find out about this.

that would be a good idea-but what if too many people start using it? VZW might get mad |

umm... i am sorry for sounding stupid, but if you don't have where you can call nationally at no extra charge, wouldn't the area code (777) trigger a national call? |

However, I'm not sure if it would if you were out of your home area and only had a local plan. Obviously, it won't work when you're not on the native VZW network.

Help. sorry to dig up an old thread. I have an LG 9800. I have it hooked up and followed the directions to use is as a modem for my computer (EN config). Anyway, the phone shows it is trying to connect etc, then on my computer screen I get the error that the user name or password is wrong. I am sure I have xxxxxx0050@vzw3g.com and vzw as the password correct. Has Verizon disabled this? I called tech support, and was told I have to pay for a $70 a month data package, otherwise, what I was doing is illegal. Anyone? ------- here are the steps i followed: Control Panel Phone and Modem Options On the Modems Tab, select you LG CDMA USB Modem, click Properties On the Advanced Tab, enter AT$QCMDR=3 for EN as the extra initialization commands (or AT&QCMDR=2 for Q2N) Hit OK twice to get back to Control Pannel Network Connections Create a new connection Next Connect to the Internet, Next Set up my connection manually, Next Connect using a dial-up modem, Next ISP Name: VZW EN (or whatever you choose), Next Phone number: #777, Next Set for your user or all users, Next User name: ##########@vzw3g.com (replace ### with your 10-digit phone number) Password: vzw Confirm password: vzw Choose other options as needed, Next Finish |

I had trouble configuring some phones the manual way, however, if you want the VZW soft, it seems to work all the time, you just need the correct modem soft installed, which it looks as if you already have. PM me if you want it, and I can see if I have a copy here. Otherwise, I can send it in a few weeks.

Should, however, you may or may not be able to use bluetooth, depends on if the obex is enabled or not.
