Can all of you experts help an inexperienced user out? I am confused on one point about using your cell phone as a modem. What kind of calling plan do you have to have on Verizon? Do you have to add National Access ($39.99 or $59.99 a month) to your American's Choice plan? Thanks! Amy |

Andy, It takes a LONG time... Not to worry though, they did show up as off peak... IDK if any have shown up on my account using #646 or My Account, I haven't checked, and it's not easy to without the detailed billing... I'm sure if there is a problem, CS would be happy to help us out. |

Oh I'm sure they would be more than happy to waive charges in case any appear, especially since I was told by Tech Support that doing this wouldn't be 'legal' lol Andy |

I ordered a mobile office kit off of e-bay yesterday. It appears to be an actual kit produced for Verizon. Does anyone know how you tell if the USB cable is charging or non-charging? ( I think I saw on here somewhere that there are both types). Will it say on the packaging or is it a matter or trial and error? Thanks again! Amy

wgray, in another threat we talked about bitpim. I downloaded it, installed it, but now anytime I want it to communicate with my VX 6k it says "The phone is not responding while transitioning mode from none to brew." Do you know what I have to do? I went through the help menu but nothing seemed to help. Thanks, once again, Andy |

In the help menu for the 4400 it says not to purchase a straight usb cable...might that be my problem?? Edit- here's what it says on the USB cable I bought off ebay and the one I'm trying to use: Now you can access and synchronize your phone book contacts, e-mails, and appointments, change ring tones and background pictures, and take advantage of other useful applications! So I must be doing something else wrong...Help, Please |

Andy, I had the same problem... I just re-installed quicklink mobile and my usb drivers, and all is fine again. IDK how to flip back to modem from brew mode with the data cable. I believe that us the problem. As for the charges, I had CS tell me that I could use EN for free (using airtime). I can't see how they could charge me for it if a rep had told me that. |

I see in the discussion that there are two options you can configure your software for accessing the net. Quick 2 Net and EN? Does it matter which one you use? Are they both free with America's Choice? I'm SO excited. My cable should arrive any day!!! Thanks again - Amy |

As for the 7000, the settings should be the same or similar.

Here are the instructions for the vx6000 on Windows. It should be the same for almost any VZW LG phone. Once your VX6000 is installed as a modem and connected... My Computer Control Panel Phone and Modem Options On the Modems Tab, select you LG CDMA USB Modem, click Properties On the Advanced Tab, enter AT$QCMDR=3 for EN as the extra initialization commands (or AT&QCMDR=2 for Q2N) Hit OK twice to get back to Control Pannel Network Connections Create a new connection Next Connect to the Internet, Next Set up my connection manually, Next Connect using a dial-up modem, Next ISP Name: VZW EN (or whatever you choose), Next Phone number: #777, Next Set for your user or all users, Next User name: ##########@vzw3g.com (replace ### with your 10-digit phone number) Password: vzw Confirm password: vzw Choose other options as needed, Next Finish Now you should be able to re-enter your username and passowrd and connect. From my experience, I was able to get about twice the speed of dial-up. Your battery should last about as long as making a call (I think). The #777 number shows up on your bill as (777)000-000 just like data for WAP. |
