(MT.PLEASANT, Michigan) – Cellular One from Dobson Cellular Systems said today it has added six new cellular towers in Middle Michigan. The new towers, which carry cutting-edge GSM technology, join Cellular One’s existing network of towers throughout the country. These advances underscore Cellular One’s ongoing focus of developing, expanding and delivering the highest quality network services available to customers. The cell sites were turned on in March, according to company spokesperson Craig Davis. Three new towers have been placed in and around Mt. Pleasant, providing additional capacity and coverage at Central Michigan University, south of Mt. Pleasant on US 27 and US 127, and along M20 towards Lake Isabella. Three new sites were added to provide seamless coverage along M20 heading east to Remus in Mecosta County. One additional site was added south of Houghton Lake providing further coverage north and south on US127. |

in a ballpark estimate, how much does it cost for the GSM equipment such as the antennas and the equipment in the cell shelter..etc...? I always wondered about that....

Dont really know off the top of my head. I know the radios are around 4K and I think the amps are about the same. Antennas are around 1-2K each depending on the brand and quality. The bogners are real expensive, seems like they were 10k.

Images: 8 | Oh, I thought that the bogners were cheaper than the sectorized for some reason. Would you happen to know why they are so costly? Is Cellular One still adding bogners, or are all the new cellone tower using sectorized?

omni sites are cheaper in general, but not bogners. Bogners are old school analog thinking. You throw up a 400 ft tower add Bogners with 50-70 watt analog and you only need a tower every 30 miles. Panels cover alot better closer to the tower. GSM and CDMA just dont push the power to make bogners worth while, even if you could push the power the handset wouldnt be strong enouph to reach the tower like a bag phone with external antenna did.
