My son is a student at Miami University we have a Cincinnati Bell bundle plan. This year the dorm he is in his phone service had been erratic to say the least. Has to hang out window to get phone to work, numerous drop calls and poor reception. Has anyone had any experiences with Cinti Bell in the Oxford area. Are there better phones that offer better reception? Better service providers?

I believe Verizon would be the best choice for that area. Hopefully someone else can chime in too.

I can confirm that - I never had any trouble with VZW while I was down in Oxford, and most of my friends that live in the area are VZW customers. Seems like the way to go. My T-Mobile service works fine in Oxford, but I lose it quickly once I get out of town.

I was a Miami student in Oxford for 4 years and I had both Nextel/Sprint and Verizon and they both work excellent. A true test of this would be to take a carrier's phone up to Hueston Woods State Park about 5 miles north of Oxford. If it will work there you are good to go anywhere around that area. I found Nextel did work, but lost reception in a few places. Verizon works great there, but it wouldn't hurt to make sure you get a tri-mode phone just to be sure you cover all bases. |

I went to Miami Oxford for four years and have friends that are still on campus. We all used Sprint and never had any problems. They say it has even gotten better lately.
