I'm trying to decide between AT&T and T-mobile. And the phones that im looking into are Motorola c332, Sony T68i ,Samsung s105 and Samsung R225. My most important requirement is good connection my home is in wheeling, 60090, but it will be used in chicago and all over chicago suburbs,.. Any personal experience will help . thank you. |

I don't know where Wheeling is, but I will suggest that you avoid AT&T for now. They're service S-U-C-K-S (why is that word "forbidden"...get some tougher skin people!) around the outskirts of the city...then gets progressively worse the further towards the suburbs you go. Bad spot here, worse spot here...oohhh! Great service...damn I lost it!

My home is next door in Buffalo Grove. I have T-Mobile, my son has AT&T and my wife has Cingular. All three work great everywhere in the Chicagoland area. If you're looking to save a few dollars, go with T-Mobile, they're the lowest priced.

I had AT&T from 1996-2002 and worked at Hintz/Wheeling. I travelled up there from the western burbs and never had any issues with call quality. I go into the City very often and have had no problems there either. I got T-Mobile last year and quality has been the same or better for most of the area. I also had AT&T GSM on T68 and that was a call drop nightmare. Both carriers are good unless you use T68. Like the last poster T-Mobile is less money and the 3390 is free which is excellent for a free phone. |

T-mobile (being GSM) has better reception than AT&T GSM, they have been working at it longer at have more coverage. AT&T TDMA is going to have the most coverage over the other two. If your going GSM go T-mobile. As a previous post points you can't beat their prices, and for GSM, you can't beat T-mobile coverage either.

TMobile has better GSM coverage then ATT GSM coverage not ATT TDMA coverage. Have you looked at the maps?

...even the people who work in the AT&T stores seem reluctant to push the GSM service because they know people will be coming back to make returns. They are happy to tell you about all the cool features, of which there are plenty, yet when it comes to service area questions they usually admit that the "network is still expanding" and that "T-Mobile has been around a bit longer but we will surpass them soon" or "___________________" (fill in the blank). |
